Barnesville looks to sustain momentum at reeling Toronto

Half-a-dozen games are on the Friday night high school football schedule as week 7 rolls around. All of the contests have 7 p.m. kickoffs.
Barnesville (4-1)
at Toronto (2-4)
The Shamrocks look to continue their solid play as they trek to Clarke Hinkle Field in the Gem City.
Senior wide receiver/running back Spencer Bliss has been Barnesville’s leader, as has junior quarterback C.J. Hannahs. Senior running back Owyn Wise has come into his own. Bliss has caught 23 passes for 329 yards and a TD. Hannahs has passed for 624 yards, five TDs and three picks. Wise has run for 235 yards and a trio of touchdowns.
Defensively, the Shamrocks have been a tough group to crack. Tackle Gavin Carpenter has been a force. Linebacker Connor Jones is solid.
The Red Knights are coming off a 21-20 setback to Jefferson County rival Edison last week.
Martins Ferry (1-5) at
Indian Creek (0-5)
One week after picking up their first win, the Purple Riders were throttled by visiting Cambridge, 23-0. Now, they bus north to Wintersville’s Kettlewell Memorial Stadium where the Redskins await.
Junior tailback George Hulsey has been a constant on offense for Martins Ferry. He has rushed for 524 yards and six TDs. Freshman quarterback Ayden Ludolph missed last week while sophomore Baron Lucey took the snaps.
Defensive tackle Peyton Hores has enjoyed a fine season, as has end Colton Larkins.
Indian Creek is coming off a 41-19 loss to Bellaire.
Harrison Central (2-4)
at Beaver Local (4-2)
The Huskies will be seeking to halt a 4-game losing streak as they head to Columbiana County to meet the Beavers in Lisbon.
Injuries at key positions has hampered Harrison Central as all-Ohio wide receiver Trevor Carman and two-way junior lineman Cabot Arbaugh have been lost for the season.
Sophomore quarterback Hayden Cassidy continues to learn on the fly while senior Jonathan Vermillion has been a force on both sides of the ball. Cassidy has 585 yards, five TDs and a like number of INTs. Vermillion has landed 17 passes and has three touchdowns.
Beaver Local is coming off a 47-16 rout of Lutheran East.
Shenandoah (2-3) at
Monroe Central (2-3)
The Seminoles collected win No. 2 thanks to an outstanding individual effort from senior quarterback/defensive back Malachi Rose-Burton.
The cat-quick Rose-Burton passed for three touchdowns, ran for two more and picked off a trio of Magnolia passes — two in the end zone — in a 43-18 victory.
Rose-Burton has accounted for 757 yards rushing and 11 touchdowns and passed for 809 and 11 more TDs. He has only thrown one pick, that coming in the season opener against Union Local. Senior wideout Dillon Lincoln has snagged 27 passes for 547 yards and nine TDs.
The Zeps stopped a 3-game losing streak with a 22-12 win against Marietta.
Belpre (2-4) at River (2-4)
The Golden Eagles come to Hannibal and Martin Flannery Field after blanking South Gallia 31-0 last week.
Meanwhile, the Pilots suffered a 14-12 setback at Shadyside as a late 2-point conversion failed.
Sophomore quarterback Kabel Isaly continues to grow each week. He has 1,005 passing yards and nine TDs compared to just one INT. Senior Austin Creamer has run for 555 yards and 11 touchdowns.
River Thompson has 28 receptions for 262 yards and three touchdowns. Brody Lollathin has caught 23 for 437 and four scores.
Caldwell (4-2) at
Buckeye Local (1-4)
The Redskins and Panthers are meeting for the first time ever when the Noble Countians travel to World War II Memorial Stadium in Yorkville.
Junior Trey Hoover has 290 yards rushing and scored three TDs to lead Buckeye Local, which has only played one game — a 49-6 defeat at West Salem Northwestern — since Sept. 10.
Freshman quarterback Skyler Ebright continues to go through growing pains. Dylan Palmer is a force on defense.
Caldwell defeated Conotton Valley last week for its fourth straight win after an 0-2 start.
