BRIDGEPORT -- For the fourth straight week, Bridgeport dug itself a hole that was just too deep.
Invading Madonna was a missed PAT away, early in the third, from sending the game into OHSAA mercy rule, but the Bulldogs eventually clawed within 15 only to fall 41-20 on Hall of Fame Night at Bill Jobko Stadium.
The Blue Dons received a big game from senior quarterback Santino Arlia, who threw five touchdowns and he added a 9-yard scoring jaunt.
Of his touchdown passes, three went to senior Evan Quering. Those covered 43, 25 and 90 yards. Arlia also hooked up with Coleton Littleton on a 42-yard scoring strike to begin the night. His final toss went to Mason Thompson from 9 yards out.
Bridgeport was able to stay close thanks to the play of Aiden Tarr. He scored all three Bulldogs touchdowns. He caught an 8-yarder from Mason Aberts and then ripped off 45 and 96-yard jaunts to the end zone. He also ran for a 2-point conversion.
Volleyball
St. Clairsville tops Harrison
CADIZ -- The Red Devils snapped a brief losing streak with a three-set win over the Huskies by scores of 25-23, 25-19 and 25-19.
Leading the way for St. Clairsville was Alexis Thoburn, who had 12 digs and nine kills. Lydia Wees had eight kills and three blocks, while Brooke Biancarelli had eight kills and seven digs. Shae Brookover handed out 25 assists.
The Huskies were led by McKayla Dunkle's 11 kills and six blocks. Logan Johnson had 20 assists and Many Butler had 20 digs. Johnson and Danica Rensi each had eight points.
Girls Soccer
St. C. girls prevail
St. Clairsville (7-0-1) picked up another shutout victory on the pitch Saturday, blanking Weir High, 3-0.
All three Red Devils’ goals came off the foot of Alyssa Bodkin and all three assists came from Gianna Nardo. Rileigh Wood made four saves in net.
Cross Country
PATASKALA — Barnesville finished second in the small school race at the McGowan Invitational held annually at Watkins Memorial High School.
The Shamrocks finished with 58 points, which was three more than champion Berne Union.
Leading the Rocks was senior Tyler Jenkins, who placed second overall in a time of 16:35.
