Prep Roundup: Shadyside falls in volleyball at Fort Frye
BEVERLY — Shadyside ran into a buzzsaw Saturday afternoon, falling in three sets to homesteading Fort Frye.
All three sets ended with a score of 25-13.
The Tigers were led by junior Gentry Brown, who had 10 kills, seven digs and three blocks. Senior Caroline Mercer added 17 assists and six digs, while senior Paige Gorby had six kills and five digs.
Beallsville sweeps St. John Central Academy
BEALLSVILLE — The Blue Devils made quick work of the invading Irish, winning by scores of 25-7, 25-2 and 25-11.
The Blue Devils were led by Kinley Hughes, who had seven assists and three aces. Chloe McCulley added seven aces and six assists, while Kaylee Hagan posted six kills.
CROSS COUNTRY
BYESVILLE — Barnesville’s boys finished fifth with 59 points at the annual Colt Carnival Cross Country meet at Meadowbrook.
The Shamrocks were led by senior Tyler Jenkins, who placed fourth in 17:32.
Barnesville’s girls were also fifth to lead the area teams.
The top area individual was Linsly senior Haley Heitz, who placed fifth in 22:09.
