UL remains hot; HC golfers on top

ST. CLAIRSVILLE — The invading Jets continued their hot play, toppling the homesteading Red Devils in four sets.

Union Local was a winner by scores of 25-13, 25-18, 21-25 and 25-13.

The Jets were once again led by junior ace Torre Kildow, who posted an impressive 29 kills. She also had two blocks and nine digs. Senior Keira Gregor had 19 digs and three kills. Julie Broussard had 39 assists and eight digs. Kelly Gregg had 10 digs and five aces.

St. Clairsville was led by Alexis Thoburn, who had 12 kills and 13 aces. Shae Brookover had 27 assists, while Brooke Biancarelli had four kills and 11 digs.

Beallsville sweeps Bridgeport

BRIDGEPORT — Beallsville posted a three-set repeat win over Bridgeport Thursday evening by scores of 25-17, 25-17 and 25-10.

The Blue Devils were led by Kinley Hughes, who had five assists, three digs, two kills and two aces. Kaylee Hagan had five kills and three digs, while Alayna Wells added four digs, three aces and two kills.

Bridgeport was led by Kaylee Bain’s three aces, four kills and 12 digs. Markiee McCormick had two aces, four assists and four digs. Brooke Stewart had five assists and Campbell Kropka had five points.

Harrison upends Edison

CADIZ — Harrison Central needed four sets to defeat invading Edison Thursday evening.

The Huskies were led by senior McKayla Dunkle’s 16 kills and eight blocks. Logan Johnson had 18 assists, while Maddy Butler added 29 digs. Logan Johnson and Danica Rensi each had 18 points.

Cambridge trips Martins Ferry

MARTINS FERRY — The Purple Riders lost their third straight match this week, falling in three sets to invading Cambridge by scores of 25-7, 25-16 and 25-14.

The Purple Riders were led by Lindsay Best’s three kills, two blocks and 11 digs. Jordan Hughes posted two kills and 10 digs, while Kelsi Gillespie had nine digs.

Seminoles Rally for Win

WOODSFIELD — The Seminoles squandered a two sets to none lead, but came back to win the match by claiming the fifth set.

All told, the Seminoles were winners 25-11, 28-26, 16-25, 23-25 and then 15-9.

Monroe was led by Trista Morris’ 10 kills, 10 digs, while Abby Thompson had eight kills and eight blocks. Kynzi Bishop donated five kills. Regan Hamilton passed out 13 assists, while Olivia Valkovic had nine nine assists and two aces. Kalista Friday had 11 digs and two aces. Haylyn Highes added three blocks.

The Shamrocks were led by Halle Markovich’s 21 kills, four blocks and nine points. Ava McFarland had 43 assists, 16 digs, two aces and 13 points. Ellie Thompson had 13 kills. Kynlie Cline added 37 digs, while Jalyn Skinner had 14 digs and four points.

GOLF

CADIZ — Harrison Central got another tuneup for the Division II sectional on Thursday by winning a quadrangular that included Indian Creek, Edison and Toronto.

The Huskies finished with a round of 186, which was 18 better than the Redskins and 45 shots better than Edison. The Red Knights did not have four players.

The Harrison duo of Aiden Sliva and Nash Roberts were co-medalists with a 43.

Buckeye Local wins

RAYLAND — Buckeye Local picked up two more wins Thursday, defeating Oak Glen and Weir at BecWood Hills Golf Course.

The Panthers shot a 172, which was 23 better than the Golden Bears and 51 clear of the Red Riders.

Buckeye was led by co-medalists Aiden Polanski and Jacob Berry. Both posted a round of 41. Jude Smith of Weir also posted a round of 41 to get into the medalist mix.

GIRLS GOLF

WHEELING — River finished third in a triangular with a team score of 234. The event was won by John Marshall, which finished with a 199. Waterford also took part, recording a 215.

The Pilots were led by Kiera Saksa, who finished with a round of 46.
