Prep Roundup: Beallsville, Barnesville fall in OVAC

BEALLSVILLE — Conotton Valley came here Tuesday and took care of its business in the OVAC Class 1A semifinals by scores of 25-16, 25-21 and 25-10. The Rockets will take on Wellsville Saturday morning at Union Local in the 1A championship game.

The Blue Devils were led by Kaylee Hagan’s seven kills and four digs. Kinley Hughes had six assists and six digs.

OVAC 3A

Fort Frye sweeps Barnesville

BEVERLY — Barnesville found tough going here against the top-seeded Cadets, falling by scores of 25-12, 25-7 and 25-13.

The Shamrocks were led by Ava McFarland, who had 16 assists and five digs. Halle Markovich had five kills, while Marly Keyser had four kills. Kynlie Cline had eight digs and Jalyn Skinner posted five digs.

OVAC 2A

Monroe falls in five

CALDWELL — The Seminoles were dealt a cruel fate here Tuesday, falling in five sets by scores of 18-25, 14-25, 25-22, 25-19, 15-8 to Caldwell.

The Seminoles were led by Haylyn Hiles and Trista Morris who each had 14 kills. Morris also had 19 digs and Hiles ahd six blocks.

Kalista Friday had 37 digs and 15 points. Olivia Valkovic had 18 assists.

Kynzi Bishop had 12 kills. and Kyle English had 13 digs and eight assists.

Regular Season

Union Local sweeps triangular

OLD WASHINGTON — The Jets pocketed a victory over Buckeye Trail and New Philadelphia on Tuesday.

Union Local defeated the Quakers, 25-14 and 25-13.

In that match, junior standout Torre Kildow had 15 kills, four digs and three assists. Kelly Gress added 16 assists and 11 digs. Emily Kellaway had 10 digs. Alli Briggs posted seven digs.

Against the Warriors, the Jets prevailed by scores of 25-23 and 25-23.

Kildow was up to her same old tricks, posting 19 kills and five digs. Keira Gregor had four kills and six digs, while Gress had seven kills, 23 assists and four digs. Julie Broussard had 11 digs. Emma Yager had eight digs and three kills.

Buckeye Local edges River

CONNORVILLE — The Panthers needed five sets, but picked up another win, toppling the Pilots, 25-15, 25-21, 24-26, 16-25 and 25-8.

Buckeye Local was led by Kassidy George’s 40 digs and three aces. Abbey Berze had six kills, 17 digs. Shayleigh Hornyak had five kills and seven blocks. Pam Kandrach added three kills, 13 points, two aces, 14 digs and two blocks. Madison Zeroski had seven blocks. Brynn McKeever had five aces and eight digs.

GIRLS SOCCER

St. Clairsville 3, Oak Glen 2

The Red Devils got some revenge Tuesday night with a victory over the host Golden Bears.

Oak Glen had defeated St. Clairsville by the exact same score last month in the Ohio Valley Athletic Conference Class 4A championship game inside Wheeling Island Stadium.

Junior Gianna Nardo found the net twice for the Red Devils (12-2-2) while also assisting the other, which was scored by senior Alyssa Bodkin. Megan Malin and Zoey Russell charted assists. Rileigh Wood made 15 saves.

Harrison 2, Coshocton 1

Angi Ferri’s penalty kick in the 74th minute proved to be the difference as the Huskies (7-8-1) slipped past the Redskins.

Lily Gibbons have Harrison Central a 1-0 lead in the 10th minute but Coshocton drew even in the 33rd minute when a corner kick bounced around before going in the net.

Katherine Shearer had 15 saves for the Huskies.

BOYS SOCCER

St. Clairsville 10, Union Local 0

The Red Devils celebrated Senior Night by grounding the Jets at Red Devil Stadium.

All eight St. Clairsville (13-3) seniors recorded a goal, with Shane Jackson coming out of the net to record his first career tally. Jesse Brannan, Jack Gasber, Brandon Kralovic, Lucas Otto, Andy Schmidt, Caden Stout and Andy Thornburg were the other seniors to score. Other goals came from Carson Hendershot and Brady Blacker.

Stout recorded four assists, while Otto added three. Gasber, Brannan and Thornburg also recorded a helper.
