Monroe boys remain red-hot

WOODSFIELD — Monroe Central continued its red-hot play with a decisive victory against invading Magnolia, 61-41, on Thursday.

The Seminoles received a 24-point outburst from senior Malachi Rose-Burton. Tucker Howell added 16 and Colin Kroll had 10.

H. Central 59, Buckeye Local 36

CADIZ — The Huskies continued their march to what they hope will be an OVAC Tournament berth with a big win over the rival Panthers.

Harrison Central was once again led by Hayden Cassidy. He went for 25 points, while Jace Madzia added 16.

The Panthers were led by Luke Darrah and Braydon Walker. Each had seven.

University 64, Linsly 60

MORGANTOWN — The Hawks took advantage of a distinct edge at the foul line en route to a victory.

The Cadets were led by Caleb Murray’s 23. Raef Wykes finished with 13.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Linsly 63, Monroe Central 51

WOODSFIELD — Two of the favorites in their respective classes got together for a final tuneup before the OVAC Tournament and the Cadets scored a repeat victory.

Linsly was once again balanced in the scoring column with freshman Zaniah Zellous leading the way with 16 points. Brooklyn Edge posted 12.

The Seminoles were once again led by senior standout Kalista Friday. She posted 24 points, six rebounds, six assists and two steals.

River 38, Bellaire 31

BELLAIRE — After being postponed a couple of times, the Pilots and Big Reds finally got together inside the ‘House of Champions’ and the Pilots were just a little too much.

River received 14 points from Rylee Knight and 13 from talented sophomore Kelsey Harlan.

Bellaire, meanwhile, was led by freshman Zara Harveth’s 10. Alli Ault added eight.

Caldwell 60, Barnesville 45

BARNESVILLE — The Redskins completed the season sweep of the struggling Shamrocks on Thursday.

Barnesville was led by freshmen Madelynn Tyson and Lilly Welch.

Toronto 47, Bridgeport 27

BRIDGEPORT — The Red Knights scored a repeat win to keep the Bulldogs winless on Thursday.

The Bulldogs were led by Kaylee Bain and Haley Aubrey. Each had nine.

Steub. Catholic 52, B. Local 19

STEUBENVILLE – The Crusaders continued their fine season with a 52-19 drubbing of the invading Panthers.

Buckeye was led by Emily Valuska’s nine.
