PREP ROUNUP: St. C. girls fall in soccer; Bellaire, Ferry win in five

WELLSBURG — St. Clairsville’s girls were dealt a tough, 5-1, setback Tuesday afternoon by the Bruins.

Five girls scored goals for Brooke. Ella McCullough, Morgan McMahon, Johnna Lahita and Payton Adler all scored in the first 40 minutes of play. Mikayla Childers tallied her goal in the second half.

Megan Malin netted the lone goal for the Red Devils on a penalty kick.

Ridgewood 3, Harrison Central 1

WEST LAFAYETTE – Lily Gibbons was the only Huskie to find the net off a corner kick taken by Maddy Bender. Vanessa Dowdle had six saves.

Barnesville topples Harrison

CADIZ — Invading Barnesville bounced back from a loss on Saturday to sweep the Huskies in three sets by scores of 25-9, 25-16 and 25-17.

The Shamrocks were led by Ava McFarland’s 20 assists and 13 digs. Halle Markovich added 11 kills, two blocks, 11 points, two aces and four digs. Jalyn Skinner was charted for 13 points, eight digs and two aces. Ellie Thompson was credited with 10 kills, four points and four digs. Kynlie Cline had 26 digs.

Harrison was led by Danica Rensi’s 11 kills, Olivia Tonkovich’s 20 assists and Maddy Butler’s 10 digs. Danica Rensi had four points.

Bellaire edges Shadyside in five

SHADYSIDE — The Big Reds completed the season sweep of the Tigers with a 25-21, 20-25, 21-25, 25-17 and 15-11 victory.

Leading the way for the Big Reds was Gianna Schmidt, who had 22 kills and eight digs. Brooklyn Zonker had 14 kills, four blocks, 14 digs and three aces. Deena Call recorded six kills and eight digs. Ava Marinacci was charted for 19 assists, three aces and 10 digs. Gracelyn Maupin posted 21 assists, while Jadyn Thornton had four kills and two blocks. Rylie Porter posted nine digs, two aces and three kills.

Shadyside was led by senior standout Gentry Brown’s 26 kills, 13 digs. Ali Weatherson had 34 assists, eight digs and two aces. Josey Greenwood posted seven digs, while Mady Violet had five kills. Bayleigh Harman had 15 points and five digs.

Union Local sweeps Brooke

WELLSBURG — The Jets picked up another sweep on Tuesday by toppling the host Bruins by scores of 25-13, 25-17 and 25-16.

Fueling the Jets attack was senior standout Torre Kildow. She had 18 kills and 10 digs. Olivia Wortman had seven aces and four kills, while Kelly Gress had five aces and 23 kills. Julie Broussard posted 20 digs. Emma Yager notched eight digs. Alli Briggs had seven kills.

Martins Ferry outlasts Buckeye

CONNORVILLE — The Purple Riders rallied from two sets down to pick up another win. This one came by scores of 18-25, 18-25, 25-20, 25-23 and 15-10.

The Purple Riders were led by Hannah Meeker’s 38 assists, nine points, eight digs and two kills. McKenzie Carte had nine kills and two blocks. Lindsey Best posted 13 digs, 11 kills, three aces and 10 points. Sydney Koller posted 23 digs, 14 kills, six aces and 15 points.

The Panthers were led by Sam Ankrom’s 19 digs. Brynn McKeever had seven kills, two blocks, two aces, eightdigs and seven assists. Morgan Richardson had 10 assists and seven digs. Pam Kandrach added five kills and two aces, while Madison Zeroski netted six kills and eight blocks.

St. Clairsville edges Steubenville

ST. CLAIRSVILLE — The Red Devils needed four sets, but picked up the victory against Big Red by scores of 23-25, 25-22, 25-22 and 25-13.

Leading the way for St. C. was Brooke Biancarelli with 12 kills, six digs, four aces and an assist. Rachel Finnical had 36 assists, four aces and three kills, while senior Katlyn Gray posted 10 kills and a block.

Beallsville trips Hundred

HUNDRED — The Blue Devils picked up a three-set win on the road Tuesday by scores of 25-12, 25-9 and 25-7.

Beallsville was led by Kinley Hughes’ seven assists, eight aces, while Brooke Wells had five jkills and eight aces. Kaylee Hagan had five kills, five digs.

GOLF

Linsly sweeps quad

CADIZ — The Cadets fired a round of 159, which was 23 shots better than Steubenville. Harrison Central (197) and Edison (218) also took part.

Sophomore Adam Gill led the field with a 2-under round of 34.
