Prep Roundup: Shadyside topples Buckeye Local

CONNORVILLE — The Tigers needed four sets, but finished off the host Panthers by scores of 25-21, 25-19, 23-25 and 25-16.

Shadyside was led by senior standout Gentry Brown, who had 24 kills, 13 digs, four aces and four blocks. Bayleigh Harman had 15 assists, while Macy Hendershot posted seven aces, 11 digs and three blocks. Ali Weatherson had 11 assists. Grace Klug posted six digs.

Buckeye Local was led by Madison Zeroski’s 10 kills and six points. Morgan Richardson had eight kills and four digs, while Brynn McKeever had seven kills and eight digs. Pamela Kandrach had five kills and seven digs. Jaelee Thompson had six kills. Samantha Ankrom added seven digs.

Bridgeport sweeps St. John

BELLAIRE — Bridgeport picked up a victory by spiking St. John Central Academy in three sets by scores of 25-13, 25-21 and 25-14.

The Bulldogs were led by Markiee McCormick, who had seven aces nine assists and four digs. Josalyn Canter had six aces and five kills. Kaylee Bain produced 11 digs and six aces. Erica Marling posted five points and three aces, while Campbell Kropka handed out six assists. Daijah Smith had five digs.

Wheeling Central trips Martins Ferry

MARTINS FERRY – The Maroon Knights needed four sets but got the victory in the end over the Riders by scores of 25-12, 22-25, 25-21 and 25-17.

The Riders were led on the stat sheet by Sydney Koller’s 23 kills, 12 digs and two blocks. Lindsay Best added 12 kills and 14 digs, while Hannah Meeker recorded 24 assists, two blocks and two aces. McKenzie Carte had six kills and four blocks. Suzanna Bruney posted eight digs and Kelsi Gillespie had seven digs.

Caldwell edges Monroe

WOODSFIELD – The Redskins posted a five-set victory over the Seminoles by scores of 25-13, 25-13, 24-26, 23-25 and 15-10.

The Seminoles were led by Kynzi Bishop’s 15 kills, seven blocks, five points and two aces. Jacey English had eight kills, 10 digs, while Abby Thompson posted five kills, 11 blocks. Maclarin Craft had six aces and 14 digs. Olivia Valkovic and Kyra English each had 15 assists.

Beallsville tops Valley

BEALLSVILLE — The Blue Devils knocked off the Lumberjills in three sets by scores of 25-7, 25-11 and 25-20.

The Blue Devils were led by Kinley Hughes’ 14 assists, six aces and two kills. Kaylee Hagan added five kills and five digs. Grace Perkins added five kills.
