Prep Roundup: River girls win MOVL title by toppling Monroe

HANNIBAL — River clinched the Mid-Ohio Valley League title and wrapped up the top seed in next week’s OVAC Class 2A tournament by virtue of fending off rival Monroe Central, 54-47.

The Pilots, who are 17-1 on the season, received another outstanding effort from junior point guard Kelsey Harlan, who went for 20 points. Senior Hannah Raper and Rylee Knight each had 13.

Monroe Central was led by Hallie Bommer’s 22. Kynzi Bishop posted nine.

Bellaire 53, Shadyside 28

BELLAIRE — The Lady Reds posted their second win over the Tigers and in the process locked up a berth in the OVAC Class 3A tournament.

Bellaire received an impressive effort from junior Allie Ault, who went for 24 points. She hit six bonus goals. Sophomore Zara Harveth scored 17.

Shadyside senior Gentry Brown continued her brilliant season with 16 points.

Barnesville 59, Bridgeport 20

BARNESVILLE — The Shamrocks scored a repeat win over the Bulldogs Monday evening.

Barnesville was led by Ellie Thompson’s 21 points. Alyssa Carter added 14.

Bridgeport received nine points from Hanna Brewer.
