Prep Roundup: Harrison softball falls; HC, St. C. baseball prevail

RICHMOND — Edison watched Harrison score three runs in the top of the first, but answered with a five spot of its own and never looked back en route to the 8-5 win.

Senior Katie Fluharty got the win in the circle and she also had a run-scoring hit. Becca Evans had a RBI double and Grace Browning had two singles and a RBI.

Harrison Central got two singles and two RBI from Isabell Yeager. Katy Banal had a double and Lizzy Clelland had two singles and a RBI.

Toronto 11, Shadyside 7

SHADYSIDE — The Red Knights came to the Mead Township Park and completed the season sweep of the host Tigers Monday afternoon.

Toronto received two singles and two RBI from Callie Anderson. Ashton Thomas added a double, single and RBI.

Shadyside received three doubles from Mary Smith. Senior Gentry Brown had a double and two RBI. Taylor Fulton had two singles and drove in a run.

Barnesville 8, Bridgeport 6

Barnesville 11, Bridgeport 1

BARNESVILLE — The host Shamrocks swept a Monday twinbill from the invading Bulldogs.

In the opener, Barnesville scored five runs in the last of the sixth to take command.

Madelynn Tyson had a home run and four RBI. Kylee Powell had two singles and a RBI, while Emmy Gibbons had two singles and a RBI.

In the second game, the Shamrocks got a pair of home runs and four RBI from Peyton Dudzik. Chaela Smolira and Ellie Thompson each had two singles and a RBI. Tyson had a RBI double as did Lily Welch.

Carrollton 25, St. Clairsville 16

CARROLLTON — The Warriors scored 19 runs in their first two at-bats and went on to defeat invading St. Clairsville in a game that was called due to darkness after five complete.

St. Clairsville was led offensively by Rachel FInnical who had a double, two singles and drove in four. Senior Abby Salisbury posted a triple, single and drove in four. Noel Habig had a double and single and drove in two.

BASEBALL

Harrison Central 6, Edison 1

RICHMOND — Harrison Central picked up a key Buckeye 8 North win Monday afternoon at Edison.

The Huskies received solid pitching from Kaden Jurosko, who struck out six and worked five innings.

Tucker Snyder, who came on in relief, had a single and two RBI. Tre Rex had a double and RBI and Anthony Pelegreen had a single and RBI.

Matt Parsons had two singles, while Chase Freeman had a double and RBI.

Paden City 13, Beallsville 2

PADEN CITY – The Wildcats (12-7) scored seven times in the bottom of the first against the visiting Blue Devils and never looked back Monday.

Braydon Neff singled twice and doubled to produce three runs. Ashton Little added a 2-run single and winning pitcher Joey Baker had a pair of RBI.

Baker fanned 10 and walked three while tossing a 2-hitter.

Reed Smith doubled for Beallsville.

St. Clairsville 8, John Marshall 3

ST. CLAIRSVILLE — The Red Devils picked up their 11th win in 13 tries Monday by toppling invading John Marshall, 8-3, at Memorial Park.

Brody Saunders got the win on the mound win with nine strikeouts and two walks.

Offensively, Hunter Hoffman had a triple and two RBI, while Marcus Bush provided two singles and two RBI. Braylen Blomquist had a double.

John Marshall was led by Isaac Koontz, who had two singles and a RBI. Daniel Montz added a RBI double.

Barnesville 13, Monroe Central 1

WOODSFIELD — The Shamrocks found themselves in a 2-1 battle when they proceeded to strike for 11 in the top of the fifth en route to a mercy-rule victory.

Dylan Blon was the winner on the bump with six strikeouts.

C.J. Hannahs hads two singles, while Reese Stephen doubled. Aydon VanHorn had two singles and a double and Colvin Robb had two singles.

Xavier Kinney led Monroe with a single and double.
