WOODSFIELD -- Switzerland of Ohio Local schools has been doing its part to help coaches throughout their district as well as the Ohio Valley with the advent of coaching clinics prior to each seasons.
Those will continue will on Tuesday, May 16 at Monroe Central High School where four highly successful fall sports coaches will speak, starting at 6 p.m.
There will be a speaker for each of the fall sports that Monroe Central offers, so football, soccer, golf and volleyball.
"The clinic is open to coaches of all grade levels and is geared toward fall sports, but all coaches can benefit from the event," Monroe Central principal Casey Tolzda said.
The keynote speaker for the event will be hall of fame football coach Jay Circosta, who put together a record of 336-148-5 during his career, which stretched upwards of 50 years at Woodsfield and Monroe Central High Schools.
Circosta, who is a member of the Ohio Football Coaches and OVAC Hall of Fames, guided the Redskins and/or Seminoles to six undefeated seasons, 14 OVAC titles, 14 playoff appearances, 22 PVC championships and the 1976 Associated Press Poll State Championship. He won a regional title in 2001 and he served as the head coach of the Ohio squad in the OVAC All-Star Game five times.
After his address to the entire audience, Circosta will then speak just to the football coaches.
At that point, break-out sessions for the other sports will be held, too.
Speaking to the soccer coaches will be Steubenville High School boys head coach Greg Bowers, who guided Big Red to the regional tournament last seasons.
The golf coaches will hear from highly successful John Glenn head coach Chad Orecchio, who recently guided his Lil Muskies to the Division II state tournament.
The volleyball coaches will hear from Meadowbrook head coach Kelly Zehnder, who guided her Colts to the Division III state tournament last season.
"We have a great lineup of coaches set to speak," Tolzda said.
There's no cost to attend the event advance registration isn't needed to attend. Food will be provided prior to the event.
