Millie Mulhern Youth Tennis slated for fall
The Wheeling Oglebay Tennis Club (WOTC) will offer free tennis clinics during Millie Mulhern Youth Tennis this fall for students in grades 4 to 9.
Beginner through advanced players from public, private, parochial, or home-school settings are welcome to attend.
All sessions will be held at Wheeling Park’s Hilltop Tennis Facility from 4:30-6 p.m.
Those in grades 4 to 5 will attend on Mondays: September 11, 18, 25, and October 2. Participants in grades 6 through 9 will attend on Wednesdays: September 5, 12, 19, and 26.
Racquets are available for those who need them.
Participants are asked to wear athletic clothing and shoes and to bring water/sport drink.
The program will be coordinated by local professional Jeremy McClelland, who will be assisted by volunteers from the WOTC.
Sessions will consist of instruction, drills, games, and/or competition.
Online registration is open on the WOTC website: go to wotennisclub.weebly.com and complete a registration form for each participant.
This program is named for its founder Millie Mulhern, who along with her husband Jerry, devoted years to expanding youth tennis in the Ohio Valley.
“In their memory, we want to continue to offer this free program with the goal of introducing tennis to as many youth as possible,” WOTC President Debbie Pickens said.
