NEWCOMERSTOWN – The Purple Riders (3-2) started a three-game road trip on a winning note as junior quarterback Ayden Ludolph and Tev’n Williams enjoyed outstanding nights.
Ludolph accounted for 300 yards of offense by himself as he ran for 150 and three scores while passing for 150 and three other TDs. His scoring runs covered 5, 2 and 2. His TD passes covered 50, 12 and 70 yards and all went to Williams who had 132 receiving yards and ran for more than 200 yards.
Alex Reese had a pair of quarterback sacks and Ludolph picked off a pass. Jordi Lavall had five PAT kicks.
Beallsville 34,
Clay-Battelle 31
BLACKSVILLE — The Blue Devils (4-1) could be the surprise team in the Ohio Valley this fall.
Garrett Perkins threw three first-half touchdown passes and Beallsville held off the Cee-Bees (0-3)
Clay-Battelle came back from a 26-8 halftime deficit and outscored Beallsville (3-1) 23-8 in the second half but fell just short as the Blue Devils were able to run the final four minutes off the clock to seal the game.
Two of his scoring strikes went to James Palmer and the other a 63-yard strike to tight end Marky Louden. Perkins finished 11 of 17 passing for 223 yards while also running 16 times for 61 yards.
C-B’s Zac Hall scored on a 79-yard catch-and-run with 4:08 to play to pull the Cee-Bees within three, 34-31, but the Blue Devils were able to pick up a couple of first downs to end the game.
Beallsville’s Conner Hagan scored his second rushing touchdown of the game to start the fourth and push the Blue Devils’ lead back to 34-16. From there, Hall scored again on a two-yard run.
The C-B defense forced a turnover on downs, leading to Hall’s 79-yard catch that made it a one-score game.
That was as close as C-B would get, however.
Hagan had 19 carries for 68 yards and two touchdowns. Louden finished with three receptions for 110 yards while Palmer had three for 62.
Harrison Central 37, East Liverpool 19
CADIZ — The Huskies scored the first 37 points and never looked back in routing the visiting Potters on Wagner Field.
Hayden Cassidy passed for 163 yards and three touchdowns as Harrison Central opened a 31-0 lead after the first quarter,
Cassidy connected with Parker Hutton on scoring strikes of 11 and 17 yards. He also found Clayton Vermillion from 13. Mykel Quito had two short scoring runs.
Steubenville 34,
Dover 14
DOVER — Big Red won its fourth-straight game and improved to 4-1 on the season with a big road win against Dover at Crater Stadium on Friday night, 34-14.
Big Red, which was ranked No. 5 in the first AP Poll in Division IV, got on the board first with a Jalen Minnifield 1-yard scoring run to take a 7-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Savier Faulks, back in the lineup for Big Red after missing the past two weeks with an injury, picked up right where he left off finding the endzone on a 7-yard run in the second quarter to make it 14-0 Steubenville.
Aydan Manning then connected with Isaac Hill for a 19-yard touchdown before the half to make it a 20-0 Big Red lead at the break.
After Dover got on the board in the third quarter to cut the margin to 20-7, Faulks added his second TD of the night, this time scoring from 8-yards out to make it 26-7 for Big Red, Manning finding Minniefield on a two-point pass to make it 28-7.
In the fourth quarter, Ca’Juan Bryant broke free for a 20-yard touchdown to make it 34-7 for the Big Red before Dover tacked on a late score to provide the final margin.
Faulks carried the ball 21 times in his return and topped the century mark with 111 yards and the two trips to the endzone. Bryant added 55 yards on seven carries.
Hill had a big night receiving, hauling in 12 passes from Manning for 128 yards and the TD.
Manning finished the night a solid 18 of 23 for 197 yards. Big Red finished with 415 yards of total offense in the victory.
Toronto 42,
Oak Glen 21
NEW MANCHESTER — For a second-straight week Russ Dickinson had a strong performance at quarterback for the Toronto football team, helping lead the Red Knights to a 41-21 road win at Oak Glen on Friday night.
The Red Knights quarterback, making his second start in place of the injured Zeb Kinsey, threw for 365 yards and a pair of touchdowns to lead the Toronto offense to 448 yards of total offense.
He hit Aiden Filby for a 90-yard score and also connected with Dom Boucher for a 38-yard score. Bouscher also had a rushing touchdown for Toronto, which improves to 4-1.
Drake Bouscher had a pair of rushing scores for Toronto, which totaled 83 yards on the ground as a team.
The Red Knights led 14-0 after one and 20-0 at halftime.
Oak Glen, which was led offensively by Aiden Flowers with 155 yards rushing and a pair of touchdowns, did all of its scoring in the second half.
Flowers’ yardage came on 29 totes, while Anthony Burt (11 carries for 62 yards) and Logan Murray (11 carries for 29 yards) also found the endzone.
Murray completed three passes for 33 yards but had two interceptions.
Edison 42, Akron North 14
RICHMOND – Edison scored touchdowns on three straight drives in the first half en route to a 42-14 victory against Akron North on Homecoming at the Edison Unified Sports Complex.
Talan McClurg led the way offensively for the Wildcats as he ran for more than 100 yards and three touchdowns. McClurg scored on runs of 4, 2 and 8 yards.
Quarterback JD Henderson threw for two touchdowns. Avante’ Hayes caught a 19-yard touchdown pass, and Evan Kimmerle snagged a 7-yard score.
Trevor Eisnaugle returned a kickoff 66 yards for a touchdown to account for Edison’s other touchdown.
