Bridgeport Bulldogs take down Conotton Valley, 55-53

BRIDGEPORT — Bridgeport (12-11) got above the .500 mark with a hard-fought, 55-53, victory over visiting Conotton Valley in an Ohio Division IV boys’ basketball sectional contest on Frank Baxter Court inside the John J. Havlicek Gymnasium.
Avery Jackson led the Bulldogs with 17 points. Coen Brinker came off the bench to score 13. AJ Gear added 11.
Bridgeport outscored the Rockets, 8-6, in the extra sessions, with Jackson netting half of those.
Conotton Valley’s Brook Bowers led all scorers with 22, 10 coming from the foul line.

WOODSFIELD — The highly ranked Seminoles continued their winning ways by zapping the Zeps.
Tucker Howell scored 18 for Monroe Central. Corbin Farnsworth added 10.
Shadyside 74, Caldwell 57
SHADYSIDE — Senior Ben Wach fired in 33 points to lead the Tigers past the Redskins. He had a half-a-dozen bonus goals. Nathan Booth chipped in 10 points.
Dylan Schott led Caldwell with 19.

OLD WASHINGTON — The No. 9 Shamrocks surprised the fifth-seeded Warriors with a 9-0 blitzing in the second extra period, all the points coming on free throws.
Luke Detling led Barnesville with 16 points.
The Shamrocks were 20-for-30 from the free throw stripe.
Union Local 66, Tusky Valley 51
MORRISTOWN — Gannon Kerns had eight points and Alex Moore seven in the third quarter as the Jets pulled away from the Trojans inside ‘The Hangar.’ Moore would finish with 23 and Kerns 13. They were joined in twin figures by Easton Ditzler (15) and Dre Saunders (10).
Martins Ferry 59, Fort Frye 55
MARTINS FERRY — The Purple Riders used eight points by Alex Reese in the third quarter to pull away from the Cadets inside Tolbert Gymnasium. The 6-6 junior ended up with 22.
Turner Krol added 10 for Martins Ferry. Mason Redinger had nine.
Martins Ferry trailed 31-26 at the half, but a 21-11 advantage in the third quarter turned the tide.
Reese added seven points, including a 5-for-5 performance from the foul line, in the fourth quarter.

WHEELING — Wyatt Pinkerton had 12 points to lead three Blue Devils in double digits at the Alma Grace McDonough Center on the campus of Wheeling University. Brody Rice and Aeston Lawhon each had 10.
The Blue Eagles’ Hayden Pyles poured in a game-best 26 in the loss. His outing included a 10-for-11 effort at the free throw line. Dubale Greathouse added 12.
St. Marys advances to play Wheeling Central on Friday at the same venue.

Weir High 51, Oak Glen 33
WEIRTON — G Cross netted 23 points as the Red Riders ousted the Golden Bears on Ron “Fritz” Williams Court inside the Carl Hamill Fieldhouse.
Malachi Stromile added 11.
Gavin Geisse led the Oak Glen charge with 16 points, while AJ Ramgeet tallied 14.
