Area players named all-Ohio in D2 basketball

COLUMBUS — A pair of high-scoring Ohio Valley guards were named all-Ohio in Division II basketball Tuesday.

Indian Creek’s McKenna Scott was named to the second team, while Steubenville’s Nylah McShan was listed on the third team. Scott, a 5-7 junior, averaged 16.6 points a game for the Redskins. McShan, a 5-9 sophomore, scored at a 17.9 clip for Big Red.

Six players from OVAC school received special mention. Martins Ferry’s Lindsey Best; Indian Creek’s Kylie Anderson; Marietta’s Leigha Lauer; Vincent Warren’s Aubrey Pepper; Dover’s Morgan Karam; and New Philadelphia’s Ellie Mason.

Another half-a-dozen OVAC performers earned honorable mention. Madelyn Criss, Steubenville; Angi Ferri, Harrison Central; Giana Chirpas, Martins Ferry; Maddie Sedgmer, Harrison Central; Kenzie Headley, East Liverpool; and Alyssa Baker, Marietta.
