Linsly boys take down Oak Glenn

NEW MANCHESTER — Linsly exploded for 12 runs in the top of the first inning and coasted to a 13-2 win over Oak Glen Thursday in high school baseball action.

Ohio University recruit Alex Talor drove in three runs with a single and double. Dillon Wilson singled twice and doubled to plate a pair of tallies. Evan Zido singled and doubled to knock in a run. Luis Wade and Kyle White had run-producing base hits.

Logan Zoellers singled in the Golden Bears two runs.

Chris Upton recorded the win in relief for the Cadets.

St. Clairsville 8, Cambridge 0

CAMBRIDGE — Hunter Hoffman singled twice, doubled and drove in two runs while also striking out seven and walking one in five innings for the Red Devils (2-0) at Don Coss Field.

Marcus Bush smacked a two-run double in the sixth that put the visitors up 3-0. Braylen Blomquist singled in a run as did Noah Turley.

University 12, John Marshall 5

Morgantown 1, John Marshall 0

MORGANTOWN — The Monarchs (6-5) dropped a split doubleheader at Mylan Park.

In the opener, the Hawks scored five times in the bottom of the first and added seven more in the third.

Hayden Hughes singled twice and drove in a run against University. Donavan Jones doubled in a run.

In the nightcap, Tommy Clegg struck out five and walked one but suffered the loss.

The Mohigans scored the lone run in the bottom of the fourth on a single by Tanner Boggs.

SOFTBALL

River 11, Bridgeport 3

BRIDGEPORT — For the second day in a row, the Pilots (2-1) have tamed the Bulldogs.

Ava Wohnhas was a two-way thorn in Bridgeport’s side. She struck out eight, walked two and spaced out seven hits. At the plate, she doubled three times and knocked in four runs. Tessa Prim singled and doubled.

Hannah Brewer and Kylie Baxter each doubled in runs for the Bulldogs (2-3). Hailey Masters had an RBI single and Markiee McCormick singled twice.

Caldwell 12, Shadyside 0

SHADYSIDE — The visiting Redskins scored 11 runs in the first three innings and never looked back in blanking the Tigers.

Taylor Fulton doubled twice for two of Shadyside’s three hits.

Cambridge 4, St. Clairsville 2

CAMBRIDGE — The Bobcats doubled up the visiting Red Devils as Abby Mann struck out 14, didn’t walk a batter and scattered three singles.

SOFTBALL

Indian Creek 7, Martins Ferry 2

WINTERSVILLE — In a game switched from Martins Ferry due to field conditions, the Redskins scored three times in the top of the third and tacked on an insurance marker in the sixth and two in the seventh.

The Purple Riders (1-1) scored both of their runs in the bottom of the second. Kyndahl Richardson had a two-run single. Abby Snedeker doubled.
