Ferry Purple Riders takes down visitors Linsly
MARTINS FERRY — Abby Snedeker had a day against Linsly on Thursday.
The Martins Ferry junior singled in the winning run with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Purple Riders (9-2) edged visiting Linsly, 7-6, in high school softball action high atop the Purple City.
The RBI was one of four for Snedeker, who also doubled. She also collected the win in relief of Maddie Lucas by pitching the top of the ninth.
M. Lucas had a pair of singles and a solo home run. Giana Chirpas singled and doubled; Danielle Lude singled twice; and Gracie Lucas had a two-run single.
Alayna Cook singled thrice for Linsly, as did Reagan Van Scyoc who also picked up an RBI. Lexi Finley drove in a run with a single and double and Brenna Gardill singled twice to plate another.
Magnolia 10, Paden City 0
PADEN CITY — The Blue Eagles took a road win Thursday against the Wildcats.
Alyssa Littleton tallied two hits and three RBI for Magnolia, while Jessa Anderson popped a solo homerun in a two-hit day.
Mallory McDiffit pitched six innings for Magnolia, picking up the win and striking out 11 batters.

Morgantown 1
MORGANTOWN — The Patriots took a measure of revenge for a loss to the Mohigans earlier in the season with a road win Thursday.
Brooke Reynolds picked up the win, throwing five innings in relief.
Haley Doyle was the hero on offense, driving in runs in both the first and third innings for Park. Doyle’s two hits– one a double– were half of the Patriots’ total.
Kylah Cunningham doubled for Park as well.

SARDIS — Ava Wohnhas fired a one-hitter, striking out 11 as the Pilots (5-4) navigated past the winless Zeps (0-9). She also doubled and belted a solo home run.
Kelsey Harlan drove in two runs with a single and double. Emma Reed doubled in two and Reese Hobbs had an RBI double.

WOODSFIELD — Jauna McElroy singled and tripled, Brookelynn Grubb doubled, and Jozie Zwick drove in a run, but the Seminoles fell to Caldwell on Thursday.

WINTERSVILLE — The host Redskins overcame a 3-0 deficit by tallying all their runs in the bottom of the fifth.
Gavin Pownall singled in a run, while Ty Householder, Landon Pownall, Sam Amis and Caleb Bodo all drove in a run.
Tre Feist-Winland picked up the win in relief of Amis. He fanned three, didn’t allow a walk and permitted one hit.
Tyler Consolidated 12, Ravenswood 0
RAVENSWOOD — The Silver Knights (15-5) bounced back from a loss at Cameron on Wednesday by shellacking the Red Devils.
Owen Westbrook singled, homered and drove in five runs to pace the winners’ 10-hit attack. Brennon Miller knocked in three runs with a single and Ethasn Clark doubled twice to produce a run.
Clark earned the win in relief of Reese Davis. They combined on a one-hitter with 11 strikeouts, six by Davis.
The Silver Knights play a doubleheader at Wahama on Saturday.
Martins Ferry 9, Edison 4
MARTINS FERRY — The Purple Riders defended their homefield Thursday against the Wildcats.
In a game where both teams let up unearned runs, it was Ferry who limited their mistakes and came through with timely hits.
Alex Reese pounded two doubles and drove in a run, Ayden Ludolph smacked a double, stole two bases, drove in a run and scored three times. Kolson Ludolph and Colby Kropka each drove in two runs.
Cole Pittman and J.D. Henderson each had two hits for Edison.
Mason Redinger pitched the complete game for Ferry, striking out five in the win.
Barnesville 11, River 1
HANNIBAL — The Shamrocks scored four runs in the first and fifth innings to top the Pilots in five innings Thursday.
Barnesville tallied a dozen hits as a team, led by Marshall Meade who finished with two singles and a double on his way to a pair of RBI.
Reese Stephen also drove in a two for the ‘Rocks. Casey Carpenter picked up the win, striking out four in four innings.
Lucas Dennis knocked in River’s lone run.
Magnolia 6, Paden City 4
PADEN CITY — Despite taking an early 2-1 lead, the Wildcats couldn’t keep pace with the Blue Eagles, who scored three runs in the fifth inning in a win Thursday.
Joey Baker drove in two runs for Paden City, while Connor Carpenter drove in two for the Blue Eagles.
Brady Kocher pitched 6.2 innings in picking up the win for Magnolia, mowing down the opposition in striking out 13.
Parkersburg South 11, Linsly 5
WHEELING — The Patriots picked up a win over the Cadets, Parkersburg South scoring four runs in the sixth and seventh to secure the victory.
Cayden Mackey doubled and drove in three runs for the Patriots, while Parker Vannoy picked up the win, pitching five innings, striking out five and surrendering four runs– three earned.
Alex Taylor got on base three times and stole two bases for Linsly. Jaxon Murray and Kyle White each had two hits, while Murray, Dillon Wilson, Evan Zido and Nate Berhalter each tallied RBI.
