Shenandoah boys fall to visitors Shadyside Tigers

SARAHSVILLE — The Tigers kept their OVAC Class 2A playoff hopes alive as they scored three times in the top of the eighth to outlast the host Zeps.

Ben Wach and Wyatt Parr each singled three times and drove in two runs for Shadyside. Ryan Collins had an RBI double while Trenton Marling singled and doubled. Anthony Forgacs had a single and three RBI.

Tyler Stottlemyer fanned a dozen in seven innings. Jacob Allen pitched the eighth for the win, fanning three batters.

Indian Creek 11,

Union Local 0

WINTERSVILLE — Sy Barcalow allowed two hits in four innings, striking out five Jets and walking two. He also singled thrice and drove in a trio of runs.

Gavin Pownall singled to drive in two runs. Ty Householder doubled in one, while Hunter Rusnak and Logan Pownall each had RBI singles.

Tyler Consolidated 9,

Doddridge Co. 4

KIDWELL — Brennon Miller struck out five and walked three in five-plus innings as the Silver Knights (13-4) defeated the visiting Bulldogs. He also singled twice.

Owen Westbrook smacked a pair of doubles and knocked three runs.

Martins Ferry 7,

St. Clairsville 4

ST. CLAIRSVILLE — The Purple Riders (6-2) rallied from a 4-2 deficit after one inning as freshman Maddie Lucas settled down, striking out six and walking five. She scattered half-a-dozen hits.

Giana Chirpas drove in two runs with a single and double. Samantha Goddard knocked in another tally while Danielle Lude singled twice and Abby Snedeker singled and doubled. Averie Hughes also doubled.

Lainey Benedict singled twice and plated two runs for the Red Devils. Rachel Finnical singled twice.

Harrison Central 14,

Bellaire 3

CADIZ — The host Huskies exploded for 11 runs in the bottom of the third in routing the visiting Big Reds in five innings.

Aubry Wood knocked in three runs with two singles and a triple. Kara Blackburn singled, doubled and plated two runs, while Kailey Banal doubled in another. Rylee Smith and Isabel Yeager each singled in a pair.

Mikayla Pelegreen struck out seven, didn’t walk a batter and allowed five hits in earning the win inside the circle.

Indian Creek 3, Union Local 2

WINTERSVILLE — The Redskins broke a 1-all deadlock with two runs in the bottom of the third inning in nipping the visiting Jets.

Kylie Stidd had two doubles and an RBI for Union Local. Lauren Miller had two singles.

Buckeye Local 15, River 9

SARDIS — Brooke Kovalski picked up the win in relief as the Panthers rallied past the host Pilots.

Missy Smith singled three times and drove in a run while Missy Bauknecht singled and doubled to score another.

River committed six errors.

Kelsey Harlan singled three times for the Pilots. Presley Kilburn singled in two runs and Ava Wohnhas had a two-run double. Emma Reed also singled twice.

Linsly 12, Magnolia 4

NEW MARTINSVILLE — The visiting Cadets led 8-2 after four innings and were never threatened by the Blue Eagles.

Alayna Cook singled three times, doubled and drove in three runs for Linsly. Gina Recrosio singled twice and doubled, while Lexie Finley had a trio of singles.

Barnesville 18, Shenandoah 1

BARNESVILLE — The Shamrocks put up eight runs in the first two innings of their outing in a blowout win over the Zeps.

Amidst several big days for Barnesville, catcher Lilly Welch led the team with four RBI. Madelynn Tyson drove in three, as did Jaylyn Skinner, who doubled Monday.

Ellie Thompson drove in a pair and knocked a triple. Kylee Powell tripled.

Boys

Linsly 7, St. Clairsville 0

WHEELING — The Cadets blanked the visiting Red Devils.

Linsly winners in singles were Wesley Palmer (8-1), Luis Brulles (8-0), Jaycob Sauvageau (8-2)and Andrew Hoang (8-1). Brulles and Sauvageau (8-0), Palmer-Hoang (8-0) and Agustin Liu and Antonio Fernandez (8-0) all won in doubles.

Girls

Linsly 7, St. Clairsville 0

Kate Bondarchuk, Ava Bartlett and Olivia Rosenthal all won in singles by 8-0 scores. Mireia Brulles won 8-1.

In doubles, Brulles-Bondarchuk won 8-3, while Bartlett-Rosenthal and Rhiannon Jones and Rachel Edinger both won 8-0.

Mid-Ohio Valley League Championship Meet

Boys

SHADYSIDE — Barnesville captured the league title at Fleming Field. Conner Starr was double winner in the 800 and 16000, while Evan Carpenter won the 400, Braden Butler the shot put and Eli Messenger the pole vault. The Shamrocks also won the 4×200, 4×400 and 4×800 relays.

Shadyside’s Nathan Booth won the 110 meter low hurdles and the Tigers won the shuttle hurdles.

River’s Brandon Miller captured the 100 and 200 and the Pilots won the 4×100 relay.

Girls

Shenandoah was the team champion, but several local athletes fared well.

Buckeye Local’s Brynn McKeever was a three-time winner in the 100, 200 and 400. Jenna DelVecchio won the 100 hurdles.

Barnesville’s Marah Bethel ran to the 800 title and Ayla Yater won the 300 hurdles. The Shamrocks also won the 4×400 and 4×800 relays.

Shadyside’sAddison Ramsay won the long jump and Kaci Tsoras the pole vault.

River won the shuttle hurdles.
