St. Clairsville boys claim victory at the Maz Classic

CADIZ — St. Clairsville collected 14 hits in its 11-7 victory over South Range Saturday in the Maz Classic at Mazeroski Field inside Sally Buffalo Park.

The Red Devils received a single and home run from Hunter Hoffman that accounted for four RBI. Marcus Bush slapped a three-run double and Brody Saunders singled in a run. Caleb Keenan, Colton Florence and Rowen Mellott all had two singles. Braylen Blomquist tripled.

Florence picked up the win in relief. He fanned four and walked one.

Fort Frye 5, Barnesville 3

BARNESVILLE — The Shamrocks (15-2) spotted the visiting Cadets a 5-0 lead before a late rally fell short at Memorial Park.

Taison Starr, Caleb Powell and Max Miller all had two hits for Barnesville. Casey Carpenter struck out seven, walked one and allowed five hits, but the Shamrocks committed six errors behind him.

Paden City 11, Turkeyfoot 1

CONFLUENCE, Pa. — The Wildcats (16-7) banged out 21 hits in sweeping a doubleheader from the host Rams, including 15 in the second game.

Kayden Myers drove in three runs in the opener with a double, while Bryson Stackpole and Arvid Sandin had RBI singles. Joey Baker singled twice and Ashton Little struck out nine in his two-hitter.

In the second game, Myers singled twice and doubled to knock in six runs. Stackpole drove in four with a single and double, while Baker singled four times and plated a pair.

Baker also fanned a dozen and permitted just one hit.

Edison 12, Buckeye Local 7

RAYLAND — The visiting Wildcats scored five in the second inning and Evan Kimmerle drove in four in the game as Edison nearly doubled up the Panthers.

Brody Haught earned the win for Edison, while Cole Pittman and JD Henderson each drove in two. Kimmerle did his damage on three hits, including two triples.

Wyatt Luyster doubled and drove in two for Buckeye Local, who scored four in the bottom of the fifth to pull within three runs, but couldn’t complete the rally.

Jefferson County Christian 15 Cornerstone 5

CADIZ — Jefferson County Christian left no doubt in a 15-5 five-inning victory over Cornerstone Prep. Ben Adams got the win punching out eight without an earned run.

The hit attack was led by Josh Grimshaw who had two singles and four RBI. Rob Henderson had three hits, two being triples, and Noah Kostelny tripled and singled.

The Royals move to 10-6.

SOFTBALL

Shadyside 11, Monroe Central 10

Monroe Central 9, Shadyside 8

WOODSFIELD — The visiting Tigers and Seminoles split a pair of games, with each winning by a run.

In the opener, Shadyside used a six-run fourth to spark its win. Makalya Faulkner tripled twice and drove three runs. Taylor Fulton drove in a pair of runs and Kylie Warnock singled, doubled twice and picked up an RBI.

Ryleigh Winland and Juana McElroy each singled and doubled for Monroe Central, with Winland driving in a run.

In the second game, the Seminoles scored five times in the bottom of the sixth and then held off a furious four-run rally by the Tigers in the top of the seventh.

Arianna Saxton singled three times and drove in two runs for Shadyside

Shyann Baker had four ribbies with a double and a triple for the Seminoles. Jadyn Miller singled and tripled twice. McElroy singled twice, tripled and plated a run.

OVAC 1A Championship

Conotton Valley 8, Madonna 2

WHEELING — Conotton Valley left Wheeling Saturday afternoon with its fourth consecutive OVAC Class A softball crown.

A big reason for those championships made her final trip to the Lisa’s Field circle, displaying for all in attendance why she’ll be playing Division I collegiate softball in 2025.

Masy Baker struck out 15 batters against one walk and limited Madonna to two runs on three hits as the Rockets pulled away with an 8-2 win.
