Yoho throws no-hitter as Cameron rolls past Valley

CAMERON — Ike Yoho threw a no-hitter Monday as No. 3 Cameron rolled past No. 6 Valley 19-1 in five innings in a W.Va. Class A Section I tournament game. He struck out 10 and walked a pair.

Colson Wichterman swung the hot bat for the Dragons (18-7) with a double and home run that produced four runs. Zayde Long singled, doubled and drove in two runs, while Hunter Evans singled twice and plated a pair. Gavin Taylor and Hunter Wright also drove in two runs each.

Cameron will await the winner of No. 7 Hundred and No. 2 Madonna who were rained out on Monday. That game will be played Tuesday, with the winner playing Cameron on Wednesday.

Paden City 12, Magnolia 2

PADEN CITY — Ashton Little struck out a dozen and allowed two hits as the No. 4 Wildcats opened up the W.Va. Class A Section I baseball tournament with a run-rule victory over the No. 5 Blue Eagles in five innings.

Garrett Parrish drove in three runs for Paden City (17-8) with a single and a double. Kayden Myers singled in two runs while Jack Nelson added a two-run double. Bryson Stackpole singled and doubled to collect an RBI.

Eli Lipscomb doubled in a run for Magnolia.

Paden City will now play at top-seeded Wheeling Central today at 5, while Magnolia awaits an opponent in the double-elimination event.

Regular Season

Martins Ferry 13, Cambridge 2

CAMBRIDGE — Hunter Shutler went the distance on the mound and doubled twice to knock in four runs as the Purple Riders (12-8) defeated the host Bobcats at Don Coss Stadium.

Shutler struck out five and walked three while scattering four hits.

Alex Reese also drove in four runs with a single and two doubles. Kolson Ludolph doubled in another.

The same two teams meet again today in Martins Ferry.

St. Clairsville 10, Barnesville 5

ST. CLAIRSVILLE — Hunter Hoffman fanned 11 and walked one in six innings as the Red Devils (21-2) kept up their red-hot play by doubling up the Shamrocks on the Memorial Park diamond.

Marcus Bush drove in three runs with a single and double.

Hoffman doubled in two more and Mason Myers stroked three singles that plated a run. Niko Jacon had two singles and an RBI.

Ayden Van Horn had a three-run triple for Barnesville. Marshall Meade drove in two with a pair of singles and Caleb Powell singled twice.

St. Clairsville travels to Steubenville today.

Union Local 7, Shadyside 1

MORRISTOWN — The Jets tagged the Tigers in the fourth and fifth on their way to a road win.

Shadyside carried a 1-0 lead through the early innings after Ben Wach scored on a base hit by Jacob Allen, but Union Local scored four in the fourth and three in the fifth to seize control.

Jake Toohey totaled three RBI and doubled to lead Union Local. Billy Schumacher pitched the complete game to pick up the win, striking out four while walking two and giving up three hits.

SOFTBALL

Division III Sectional

Barnesville 5, Tuscarawas Valley 4

BARNESVILLE — Peyton Loudin hit the go-ahead sacrifice fly in the sixth inning, and the Shamrocks pushed past the Trojans in their sectional matchup.

Maddy Tyson popped a solo inside-the-park home run and Payton Dudzik drove in a run on a triple.

Loudin also started the game inside the circle, followed by Abigail Johnson, who picked up the win on the night in three innings of relief, and Ella Betts, who pitched the seventh. None of Tusky Valley’s runs were earned.

The Trojans jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the top of the third, Maysa Brown driving in a couple on an RBI triple.

Cochocton 10, Union Local 0

MORRISTOWN — The No. 6 Jets were blanked by the No. 10 Redskins in five innings.

Union Local (13-11) was held to four singles in the season-ending loss.
