West Liberty women’s soccer announces 2024 schedule

WEST LIBERTY — The West Liberty University women’s soccer team announced their 2024 schedule on Thursday afternoon, featuring four non-conference games and 14 MEC games that make up the slate. Highlighting the schedule will be four league games against three teams that qualified for last season’s NCAA Tournament. In conference play the Hilltoppers will also play two games against new MEC for Point Park as they play their inaugural season in the league.

The 2024 season begins with seven of the first ten matches on the road for West Liberty, starting with a pair of non-conference contests at PSAC West foes Seton Hill on September 5 and Pitt-Johnstown on September 8.

The first home match-up of the year will mark the start of league play as Fairmont State visits the hilltop on September 15.

The Hilltoppers will then return to the road as they travel to Salem for a non-conference game on September 18, as the Tigers have renewed their non-conference scheduling agreement with the MEC for a second consecutive year, before WLU travels to first-year conference member Point Park on September 21.

The Black & Gold return home on September 25 against Frostburg State before the opening month of the season comes to a close at Wheeling on September 29.

The month of October begins at home against Charleston on October 2, before West Liberty travels south to face West Virginia Wesleyan on October 6 and Glenville State on October 9. The schedule begins to flip midway through the month as WLU will then close out the season with five of their last eight games at home, starting with a home match against West Virginia State on October 13. MEC cross-division play will end with a road contest at Davis & Elkins on October 16 and a home match-up against Concord on October 20 during Homecoming Weekend.

A visit to Fairmont State on October 23 marks the start of the second time around against MEC North opponents. The month will then come to a close with a pair of home matches as the Hilltoppers celebrate Senior Day against Salem on October 27 prior to a game against Point Park on October 30. The regular season will end with two matches in the month of November as they travel to Frostburg State on November 2 before the 2024 slate concludes on the hilltop against Wheeling on November 6.

The 2024 MEC Women’s Soccer Tournament will once again be an 8-team bracket, featuring the top-4 teams from each division. All contests will be played on campus of the higher seed in each match-up, with the quarterfinals taking place on November 10, the semifinals on November 13, and the championship on November 17.
