Central sweeps Crusaders, St. Clairsville blanks Beaver
WHEELING — The Wheeling Central Maroon Knights swept the Steubenville Catholic Crusaders 25-5, 25-18, 25-16 on Thursday at home.
Central’s Kaitlyn Blake had 22 service points including six aces. Helene Crall tallied 10 kills, Remy Peters had nine and Blake had eight.
The Knights’ Olivia Stephens came up with 17 digs and Lainey Peters set up 33 assists.
WOMEN’S SOCCER
St. Clairsville 2, Beaver Local 0
ST. CLAIRSVILLE — The Red Devils held the Beavers off the scoreboard at Red Devil Stadium on Thursday.
Emma Gasber and Ashlynn Lednik each scored for St. C. Gasber assisted on Lednik’s goal, while Maxim Lussier assisted on Gasber’s. Kiya Kaer snagged nine saves to preserve the shutout.

WHEELING — The Maroon Knights outdueled the Silver Knights on Thursday, with 10 different Central players each scoring one goal.
Those 10 were Mariah Ratcliffe, Rylee Wright, Brooke Porter, Angelina Robrecht, Gianna Konkle, Maddie Kirchner, Berklee Heller, Morgan Ondrejko, Isabella Brown and Bella Fitzsimmons.
Assisting on goals Thursday were Rylee Wright, Loni Kusic, Seneca Heller, Elizabeth Steele, Monti Smith, Isabella Brown, Kendall Schmit and Sara Zende.

RAYLAND — The Panthers continued their string of strong performances on Thursday, outdoing the Golden Bears at Bec-Wood Hills.
Dom Kempton earned medalist honors for Buckeye, finishing with a 39 on the Par-36. He sunk birdies on holes three and four.
Kamden Kinyo was runner-up medalist, shooting a 41. Adam Blackwell shot a 44 and Kaleb Stang a 45 to make up their team total.
Oak Glen was led Cooper Comm who shot a 47.
St. John’s was represented by two golfers on Thursday, the Fighting Irish’s Kyler Baker shooting a 53.

WHEELING — The Maroon Knights were the victors in a three-team matchup at the Crispin Course on Thursday.
Vinny Demarchi led Linsly with a 75.
Rowan Park shot a 71 while teammates Luke Tiu shot a 72 for Central.

WELLSBURG — It was the Hawks on top Thursday in a girls golf outing between four squads at Highland Springs.
University’s Abby Kingora was medalist with a 49.
Brooke’s top performer was Ellie McDonald, who posted a 52.
Wheeling Central’s Amelia Balcerek shot a 61 to lead the team, while Weir’s Kylie Dean shot a 54 to do likewise.

Barnesville Outlasts Harrison Central
CADIZ — The Shamrocks rallied past the Huskies in five sets after losing the first two. The scores were 23-25, 20-25, 25-23, 25-19 and 16-14.
Abigail Johnson led Barnesville with 23 digs, 22 points and 22 assists. Payton Dudzik added nine kills, 12 points and four blocks. Audrey Johnson charted 44 digs and Avery Bliss finished with 18 kills.
Harrison Central was paced by Lauren Doane with 14 kills and 25 digs. Hannah Grady added 35 digs and 22 assists, while Mikayla Pelegreen had 25 digs. Madison Zeroski charted 10 kills and Leah Grady 16 assists.
