Wheeling Central girls roll past host Edison

RICHMOND — Rylee Wright, Seneca Heller and Aylin Yoho had two goals each as Wheeling Central rolled past host Edison, 15-0, Tuesday night in girls’ high school action at the Unified Sports Complex.

Mariah Ratcliffe, Loni Kusic, Addi Hanson, Angelina Robrecht, Addie Payton, Madigan Smith, Jaidyn Kowall, Lilly Whitelatch and Sara Zende also found the net for the Maroon Knights.

Wright, Robrecht and Kendall Schmitt each charted three assists. Kusic and Heller had two helpers each, while Ratcliffe, Hanson, Kowall, Smith, Zende, Elizabeth Steele, Brooke Porter, Gianna Konkle, Isabella Brown, Monti Smith and Bella Fitzsimmons all logged one each.

Fitzsimmons had two saves.

WOODSFIELD — Maddox Ochap, Conor Wood and Linkan Marler all scored two goals each as the Maroon Knights blanked the host Seminoles. Mason Schmitt, Mason Smith, Dom Gianangeli and JD Schoolcraft also scored goals.

Gianangeli assisted on two other net-finders, while Grady Mullin had a pair, as well. Marler, Schmitt, Matt Criniti and Ray Konkoleski all had one helper.

Jefferson County Christian 5, Pennsylvania School for the Deaf 0

SWISSVALE, Pa. — The Royals cruised to a 5-0 shutout over the Lions on Tuesday. Seth Gum paced the attack with two goals. Wyatt Hervey chipped in a goal and an assist.

The Royals move to 2-0 on the season.

GOLF

St. Clairsville 316, Wheeling Central 357

WHEELING — The Red Devils picked up right where they left off last week with an easy victory over the Maroon Knights in 18-hole action on the Jones Course at the Speidel Golf Club.

Brodi Foster earned medalist honors with a 75. That was two shots better than teammate Olivia Baker. Buckeye 8 champion Mavrik Malin carded an 80, while Evan Fix rounded out the scoring with an 84.

Gary Hatfield and Rowen Parker each had an 87 for Wheeling Central. Tuke Tiu shot 90 and Jake Brown 93.

Linsly 297, Fort Frye 359

WHEELING — Adam Gill fired a 68 as the local Cadets defeated the Washington County Cadets in 18 holes at the Crispin Golf Club.

Carson Gessler followed with a 73, three shots better than Seve Smathers. Vinny Demarchi had an 80.

Chatham Courson had a 71 for Fort Frye.

Buckeye Local 164, Harrison Central 204

RAYLAND — Kamden Kinyo shot 37 over nine holes at Bec-Wood Hills Golf Course in leading the Panthers past the Huskies. Dom Kempton was one shot back, while Kalen Stang carded a 43 and Adam Blackwell a 46.

Nash Roberts led Harrison Central with a 43. He was followed by Kaily Banal (50), Logan Johnson (55) and Haydan Skipper (56).

VOLLEYBALL

Martins Ferry def. Buckeye Local 3-1

RAYLAND — The Purple Riders got the better of the Panthers on Tuesday in four sets.

Lindsay Best had six aces, 16 kills and 15 digs in a standout performance. Giana Chirpas had 14 kills and two blocks, while SJ Koller had 29 digs and four aces. Olivia Harkness tallied 42 assists for the Purple Riders.

Monroe Central def. Shadyside 3-2

SHADYSIDE — The Seminoles narrowly defeated the Tigers on Tuesday for a road victory.

Aubrey Nippert led the Tigers with 13 kills and 18 digs.

Shadyside’s Ali Weatherson set her teammates up with 19 assists while also collecting 11 digs.

Josey Greenwood had four aces, most on the Tigers, while Sophie Boltz put down two blocks.
