Cameron topples visitors Hundred Hornets, 69-56

CAMERON — It might have taken longer than he would have liked, but Matt Burge finally won his first game as head boys’ basketball coach at Cameron.

The Dragons got off to a late start due to the successful run of its football program and then lost its first three outings.

However, Cuyler McCauley scored 19 points while Colin Magers and Mason Scott added 17 each as Cameron (1-3) toppled visiting Hundred, 69-56.

Carter Paczewski chipped in with eight.

Colt Sandy led all scorers with 20 points for the Hornets. Trey Huggins added 17 and Brayden Bartrug 12.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Indian Creek 48, Bellaire 42

BELLAIRE — Fresh off their Buckeye 8 championship, the Redskins rolled into the ‘House of Champions’ Thursday night and led 21-2 after one quarter.

McKenna Scott led Indian Creek with 12 points, one more than Riley Sadler. Gracie Klinesmith added eight and Kaydence Walker seven.

The Big Reds were paced by Tamya Morgan with 11 points. Zara Harveth and Eliana Mason had 10 apiece. Aubree Hines had nine.

Union Local 47,

Monroe Central 39

WOODSFIELD — The Jets bounced back from their Buckeye 8 loss with a road win on Junior Winland Court.

Laken Vinskovich scored 16 points and Delaney Butler had four triples for 12 to pace Union Local. Ameera Saunders added eight.

Mayzie Emery had 16 points for the Seminoles. Jadyn Miller chipped in 13.

The game was deadlocked at 31 entering the fourth quarter when Butler hit half of her bonus goals and Vinskovich went 5-for-6 from the foul line.

Harrison Central 52,

Buckeye Local 19

CADIZ — Lauren Doane scored 19 points and pulled down 15 rebounds as the Huskies (12-5) continued to hold down the OVAC Class 4A spot. Maddie Sedgmer added 11 points and nine boards while Kara Blackburn had 10 points.

Brooke Driscoll had seven for the Panthers.

Marietta 57, Martins Ferry 50

MARTINS FERRY — Lindsey Best finished with 17 points, Giana Chirpas 12 and Lindse Sidon 10 as the Purple Riders fell to the visiting Tigers inside Tolbert Gymnasium.

Co. Christian 32

PINE GROVE — Laken Dawson poured in 22 points, with 12 of them coming on treys, as the Lumberjills roared past the visitors. Kynnedi Dallison added 10 points and carley Pittman had eight.

Ava Dunn nailed five triples and finished with 17 points for Wood County Christian.

Brooke Splits Tri

The Bruins defeated Ursuline 1,965 to 1,956 but fell to Wellsville, 2,223 to 1,965.

Damian Maine rolled a 207 game and 356 series, while Darian Hilton added a 200 game and 379 series.

BARNESVILLE — Aiva Leasure netted 11 points and Maddy Tyson added 10 as the Shamrocks defeated the Zeps.
