Monarchs take down University
MOUNDSVILLE — The John Marshall Monarchs girls basketball squad scored a big OVAC win over University on Thursday, defeating the Hawks 62-56 behind a 25-point, 11-rebound output from senior Rilee Storm.
Kalyn Reese added 12 points, 10 rebounds and six assists for John Marshall. Hannah Stemple led University with 16.
University led 33-30 at halftime, but John Marshall won the third frame 17-9 to lurch ahead.
The Monarchs are now 7-5 on the season. They face another test Monday, traveling to Union Local.

WINTERSVILLE — Tyson Pastor led three Red Devils in double figures with 16 points in their win over the Redskins on Coach Joe Dunlevy Court at Indian Creek High School.
Brady Schafer added 14 and Luke Straub 11. Ollie Muhly chipped in eight.

OLD WASHINGTON — The Jets improved to 12-2 and prepped for their Buckeye 8 championship game appearance.
Ameera Saunders paced a balanced scoring attack with 10 points. Alli Kellaway, Delaney Butler and Ella Pietranton each scored nine, while Laken Vinskovich had eight and Teegan Day seven.
Union Local will face Indian Creek at 6 p.m. Saturday at the ECO Center for the Buckeye 8 Championship.
