Rough N Rowdy hosts ‘The Beef on Bourbon’ event
WHEELING — It’s official. The upcoming April 18 Rough N Rowdy event, sponsored by Barstool Sports, scheduled for WesBanco Arena has an intriguing main event scheduled.
On Wednesday afternoon, Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy announced on social media that both sides had signed the proper paperwork.
“The beef on Bourbon. There’s some real bad blood between these two that goes back to their playing days,” Portnoy said on his X account. “They really hate each other.”
A video surfaced recently where Rocker and Mahomes Sr. got into a heated verbal altercation on Bourbon Street in New Orleans on Sunday following Super Bowl LIX.
In a social media post by Rocker, he said “Wish I would’ve laid him out right there and ruined his bull*&$# weekend even more.”
According to a release, Mahomes Sr. responded, “John Rocker is a menace to society.”
The two eventually went their separate ways, according to a release on Barstool Sports website.
Rocker played six seasons in Major League Baseball, mainly with the Atlanta Braves whom he debuted for in 1998. The 6-4, 50-year-old also played for Cleveland, Texas and Tampa Bay. He recorded a 13-22 won-loss record, struck out 332 batters, had a 3.42 ERA and chalked up 88 saves.
The 6-1, 54-year-old Mahomes Sr. made his MLB debut with Minnesota in 1992. He ended his career in 2003 with Pittsburgh and also played in the Nippon Professional Baseball League. He won 42 games and lost 39. He struck out 452 batters and fashioned a 5.47 ERA
Mahomes Sr. is the father of Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes Jr.
Calls to WesBanco Arena seeking confirmation were not returned. There is no listing for the event on the Arena’s website. There is also no mention of the event on the Barstool Sports website.
