OHSAA announces tournament divisions

COLUMBUS — The Ohio High School Athletic Association has announced the new divisional breakdowns for the upcoming fall sports of golf, girls tennis, soccer and girls volleyball. The divisions and regional assignments for football will be announced on Thursday. The divisions for cross country were announced last Thursday.

Earlier this month, schools were given the opportunity to move up to Division I. The divisional breakdowns listed below reflect any schools that opted up to Division I in that sport.

The 2025-26 school year is the second of the current two-year enrollment cycle using data provided by the Ohio Department of Education.

Locally:

GIRLS GOLF

Division II: Beaver Local, Fort Frye, Martins Ferry, Meadowbrook, River, St. Cl;airsville.

BOYS GOLF

Division I: Steubenville

Division II: Barnesville, Beaver Local, Buckeye Local, Cambridge, Edison, Harrison Central, Martins Ferry, St. Clairsville and Union Local.

Division III: Buckeye Trail, Conotton Valley, Fort Frye, Frontier, Monroe Central, Shadyside, Steubenville Catholic, Toronto

GIRLS TENNIS

Division I: Beaver Local, Cambridge, East Liverpool.

GIRLS SOCCER

Division III: Indian Creek, Marietta and Steubenville.

Division IV: Beaver Local, Cambridge, East Liverpool, Edison, Harrison Central, St. Clairsville.

Division V: Steubenville Catholic.

BOYS SOCCER

Division III: Marietta, Steubenville, Warren Local

Division IV: Beaver Local, Cambridge, East Liverpool, St. Clairsville and Union Local.

Division V: Caldwell, Monroe Central, Shenandoah and Steubenville Catholic.

VOLLEYBALL

Division III: Steubenville

Division IV: Beaver Local, Cambridge, East Liverpool, Harrison Central, Indian Creek, Meadowbrook, St. Clairsville and Warren Local

Division V: Barnesville, Buckeye Local, Martins Ferry and Union Local

Division VI: Buckeye Trail, East Palestine, Fort Frye, Monroe Central, Shadyside, Shenandoah, Southern Local and United

Division VII: Beallsville, Bridgeport, Caldwell, Conotton Valley, Frontier, Leetonia, Lisbon, River, Steubenville Catholic, Toronto and Wellsville

For golf, the official start date for tryouts, practice and competition is July 28. For all other fall sports, tryouts and practice can begin on August 1, followed by staggered season start dates by sport. State tournament host sites and formats will be announced in August.
