Wheeling, St. Clairsville win American Legion games
MORGANTOWN — Wheeling Post 1 scored three times in the bottom of the sixth inning in defeating Zanesville Post 29 by a 4-3 count in the consolation bracket of the Mountaineer Country Invitational on Dale Miller Field inside Mylan Park.
Henry Anderson doubled in a run for Wheeling, which mustered just four hits. Ryland Robb added an RBI.
Reece Davis picked up the mound win. He struck out five, walked three and scattered five singles. All three runs he allowed were unearned as Post 1 made an uncharacteristic four errors.
Wheeling heads back to Morgantown on Tuesday to face Post 2 at 7 p.m.
St. Clairsville 6, Beverly-Lowell 3
NEW CONCORD — Post 159 broke a 3-all deadlock in the top of the second and tacked on two insurance runs in the fourth in defeating Post 389/750 in the Muskingum University Tournament.
Dylan Blon, a senior-to-be at Barnesville, doubled twice and drove in a run. He also went the distance on the mound, striking out five, walking five and giving up four hits. Only one run was earned.
Billy Schumacher knocked in two runs, while Brody Saunders and Evan White also had an RBI each.
St. Clairsville is back in action Wednesday at Unified Bank Field inside the Junior Sports Complex as Beverly-Lowell visits.
