BEAVERTON — Bridgeport saw its three-game winning streak over Frontier come to a screeching halt Thursday night in a 36-13 loss on the natural grass surface at Cougar Stadium.

Two plays were critical for the Bulldogs in the setback.

After cutting a 14-0 deficit in half when Jaki Threet connected with Dylan Charlton on a 10-yard scoring pass and an Owenn Clark PAT with 8:57 left in the second quarter, Frontier’s Hunter Ruble fielded the ensuing kickoff at his own 17.

Eighty-three yards later it was 22-7 as Caleb Kirkpatrick ran for a two-point conversion.

Then, trailing 22-13 early in the fourth quarter, Bridgeport’s Brode Brown recovered a muffed punt at the Cougars’ 25. However, the Bulldogs gave the ball right back on a first-down fumble and Frontier scored the final 14 points.

Threet ran for 73 yards on 17 carries while passing for 76 on 8-of-20 with the aforementioned touchdown in which he broke a tackle in the backfield before spotting Charlton in the left side of the end zone. He was also picked off once and lost a fumble. Bishop, who had a 40-yard scamper to set up his own 6-yard TD dash, finished with 63 yards on nine carries.

Kirkpatrick lugged the leather 23 times for 195 yards and scored on runs of 16 and 47. Avery Powell completed three of six passes for 83 yards while Davyn Ferrell and Aaden Bills teamed on a 31-yard flea-flicker.

Bridgeport visits Sarahsville to meet Shenandoah in week two.
