Wheeling Park finishes 4th in WVGA HS Invitational

WHEELING — Oglebay’s Jones Course hosted the West Virginia Golf Association High School Invitational on Tuesday, and the Local Wheeling Park Patriots felt well at home amidst the 20-team field, finishing fourth overall behind first-place Cabell Midland, second-place Shady Spring and third-place Hurricane.

Wheeling Park finished at +24 as a team, while Cabell Midland ended at +14, followed by +15 for Shady Spring and +16 for Hurricane.

Will Koegler shot a 76 to lead Wheeling Park, with Andrew Pennybacker close behind, carding a 79. Seth Weidner finished at an 82 and Quinn Marsh finished at a 91.

John Marshall finished tied for 18th in the field.

Shamrocks finish at the front of five-team match

BEALLSVILLE — The Barnesville Shamrocks were on-point Tuesday, finishing well ahead of four other teams at the Switzerland of Ohio Country Club. Bridgeport finished second, Shadyside and Monroe Central tied for third, and Magnolia rounded out the field.

The ‘Rocks finished at 147 strokes as a team, with medalist Brady Gallagher carding a 33 to lead the way. Gallagher finished two under-Par with birdies on holes one, three and eight.

Hayden Treadway followed with a 36, Kennedy Little shot a 38 and Dylan Gallagher carded a 40.

Bridgeport finished with a team total of 180, led by Carson Sauvageot at a 39.

Both Monroe Central and Shadyside each finished at 191. The Seminoles’ top performer was Caedyn Silva at a 41, and the Tigers’ top performer was Brandon O’Grady at a 46.

Magnolia ended the day at a team total of 200. Brayden Byers fared best at a 47.

Wheeling Park Fares Well in Pa. Tournament

BELLE VERNON, Pa. — Wheeling Park finished in fourth place Monday in the Jerry Roman Memorial Chairman’s Cup on the Cedarbrook Golf Course in Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania.

Andrew Pennybacker led the Patriots at a 74, and Will Koegler carded a 76. Both finished in the event’s Top 10 and made the All-Tournament Team.

Quinn Marsh (88), Seth Weidner (94) and Brody Groome (98) rounded out Wheeling Park’s team.
