Names for Harrison County High School Sports Hall of Fame ‘Class of 2025’ released

CADIZ — On behalf of the Harrison Central Sports Foundation, MPLX and the Harrison News Herald, the Harrison County High School Sports Hall of Fame Committee has released the names of the HOF “Class of 2025”. Two former Harrison County sports greats, a dedicated group of Officials, and one of Harrison County’s most dominant teams will be honored prior to, and at halftime of the Harrison Central vs Indian Creek Football game October 3rd. Prior to the game, a 5:45pm celebration will be held in the John W Stephenson Center honoring the inductees, with induction coming at halftime. Hors d’oeuvres will be served and admission to the event is free to the public.

Richard “Bus” Hugh, a 1953 Scio High School graduate, led Scio in scoring in both his Jr and Sr seasons while leading his 1953 Team to 24 wins, earning HM All-Ohio his senior season. Hugh played basketball all over Europe while in the military, and after his service to Country, volunteered to help Scio’s basketball program by starting and overseeing for years a youth basketball league.

Alan “Web” Webster, a 1972 Cadiz High graduate, set high school, District and college records in Track, started four seasons college football as a cornerback and kick returner, leading the Nation in Division II kick return yardage twice, and signed with the Kansas City Chiefs as a kick return specialist.

The “Chain Gang”, who have been guardians of the sidelines during Cadiz and Harrison Central football games, have current officials still involved after 50 years service. Those recognized are Dane Morgan, Kenny Zitko, Tim Kenny, Rich McKinney, Chuck George, John Ridgeway, Gary Myers, Raymond Jones and Dave Morgan.

1992 Cadiz Wrestling Teamis one of the best teams in School history, winning the OVAC “AA” Championship, the Sectional Tournament, the District Tournament, and finished the season as 1992 Division III State Runner-up.
