Shenandoah takes MOVL meet; Magnolia sweeps at Tri

Shenandoah’s Estadt, Slevin claim MOVL cross Country titles

CALDWELL — Shenandoah High juniors Ida Estadt and Emmitt Slevin emerged as the individual winners at the annual Mid-Ohio Valley League Cross Country Championships on Tuesday.

Estadt won the girls’ race with a time of 19-minutes, 51-seconds over the 5K course while Slevin prevailed in the boys’ race in 17:39.

In the girls’ race, finishing second behind Estadt and joining her with All-MOVL honors was Shadyside’s Chloe Meholovitch (20:13) while also earning all-MOVL honors were Gabby Kosky of Shadyside (3rd/21:25) and Jaylynne Johnson of Shadyside (4th/21:59).

In the boys’ race, taking the runner-up spot behind Slevin and earning All-MOVL honors was Caldwell’s Alex Sheanshang (18:25). Also earning All-MOVL honors were Noah McElroy of Shenandoah (3rd/18:34), Joel Tewksbary of Shenandoah (4th/18:45) and Aiden Danford of Caldwell (5th/19:10).

Team-wise, Shadyside had the only full girls’ team while Shenandoah and Caldwell fielded full boys’ teams.

Blue Eagles Score Pair Of Wins In Tri

NEW MARTINSVILLE — Magnolia had a great time as hosts of a tri vs. Cameron and Clay-Battelle, taking 2-0 sweeps against both opponents Tuesday.

Against Cameron, Magnolia won 25-15, 25-16. Jessa Anderson led the way with seven kills and four service aces.

Karli Warder finished with eight kills, and Sidney Knight had seven. Sydney Quinet tallied 24 assists.

Against Clay-Battelle, the Blue Eagles won 25-14, 25-17. Anderson put up a dozen kills against the CeeBees, as well as nine digs, tied for the team-high with Halle Beisel. Quinet totaled 17 assists.

Magnolia moved to 5-7 on the season with the pair of victories.
