St. Clairsville boys win, advance to Eastern District Championship
ST. CLAIRSVILLE — It may have not been a masterpiece, but at tournament time it’s all about surviving and moving on.
That’s exactly what top-seeded St. Clairsville did Tuesday night in an Ohio Division IV Eastern District 1 Tournament semifinal boys’ soccer match, winning 2-0, over Maysville on the artificial surface at Red Devil Stadium.
With the hard-earned victory, the Red Devils (16-1-1) meet No. 3 West Muskingum on Thursday at Cambridge High School’s McFarland Stadium. The match starts at 6:30 p.m. The Tornadoes blanked No. 6 Sandy Valley, 1-0, also on Tuesday.
Parker Galloway and Mavrik Malin scored goals for St. Clairsville, while Jameson Young charted both assists. Goalkeeper Talan Rice was only called upon to make a couple of saves in recording the clean sheet.
