Martins Ferry’s Alanna Williams places second in D-III state meet
OBETZ — Four area runners earned all-Ohio honors Saturday at the Ohio High School Athletic Association state cross country meet at Fritress Obetz & Memorial Park.
DIVISION III
Girls
Martins Ferry’s Alanna Williams finished second in the 5,000-meter run in a time of 18-minutes, 14.24-seconds, which was only behind Marlington’s Irelyn Johnson’s 18:10.89. It is the highest finish for a Purple Rider runner as Williams was never lower than fourth.
Boys
Union Local’s Connor Bendo placed seventh as he timed out in 15:34.25.
He was as high as fifth at one point.
DIVISION IV
Boys
Bellaire’s Landen Perdue was fourth with a time of 15:44.93. He got off to a slow start as he was 18th at one point.
The Big Reds were 18th as a team with a score of 409.
Girls
Bellaire’s Kamdin Snider ran 19:06.78 to place 22nd. She was as high as 14th.
The Big Reds placed 14th as a team with 343 points.
Shadyside’s top runner was Chloe Meholovitch as she placed 60th in 20:12.92. She got as high as 22nd.
The Tigers were 23rd as a team with 518.
