COLUMBUS — The Ohio Valley is well-represented on the Ohio Division V all-state football teams that were announced Tuesday by the Ohio Sports Media Association.

A total of four players were honored as first-team selections, while another 26 were either second team, third team or honorable mention.

Information used for the All-Ohio teams comes from the regular-season accomplishments and does not include playoff games. The seven districts of the OPSMA determine the all-district teams and nominate their best for the All-Ohio teams.

On Wednesday, the Division II and III All-Ohio teams will be announced, followed by the Division I team on Thursday.

Barnesville’s Trey Toliver and Hines Ford were named to the first team offense and defense, respectively, as a running back and linebacker, while St. Clairsville’s Colten Florence and Mason Wilt, received first-team status as a defensive lineman and offensive lineman, respectively.

Toliver, a 5-10, 210-pound junior, ran for 1,359 yards and 23 touchdowns. He also caught 14 passes for 288 yards and two TDs as the Shamrocks compiled an 8-2 record. He was the Eastern District Offensive Player of the Year. He was an honorable mention selection as a sophomore.

Ford, a 6-0, 185-pound senior, charted a team-leading 125 tackles this past season, with 83 being solo stops. He also charted 10 tackles for lost yardage, sacked the quarterback twice, picked off four passes, broke up three others and forced a fumble.

This is Ford’s third all-Ohio honor. He was on the first team as a sophomore and second team as a junior.

Florence, a 6-2, 210-pound senior, was the co-Eastern District Defensive Player of the Year with Ford after leading the Red Devils to a 7-3 record. He made 30 tackles from his end spot, with seven TFLs and 11 quarterback sacks.

Wilt, a 6-4, 300-pound junior, has already committed to Ohio State University. Ironically, he was an honorable mention selection last season on the defensive side of the ball. This past season he charted 38 pancake blocks and graded out at 92 percent.

Earning second-team status were Harrison Central quarterback Brady Hyre and Union Local running back Brody Perzanowski. Third-team honorees were St. Clairsville placekicker Parker Galloway and Edison linebacker Matt Evans.

DIVISION IV

Indian Creek quarterback Ian Starkey was a second-team selection, while teammate Bruce Mazar was third team as a running back.
