Gibbons, Heldreth make history for Wheeling Park girls wrestling
KIDWELL — For the first time in school history, Wheeling Park’s girls wrestling team took to the mat as it competed in the Tyler Consolidated “Clash at the Castle.”
The Patriots’ Terriona Gibbons (235) and Kymber Heldreth (185) won individual titles while Alivia West (138) placed fourth.

Park’s Sands Wins At North Canton
CANTON — Wheeling Park’s Isaac Sands has dominated on the mat so far this season and the senior continued that trend Saturday by winning the 165-pound championship at the North Canton Holiday Invitational.
Sands won his title by defeating Union Local’s Gunnar Gossett in the finals.
Freshman Hunter Flanegin (106) took seventh place.
Union Local had another second-place finisher in Gamble Gossett (126), while Brody Perzanowski (190) was third and Kolten Snyder (215) fourth. Snyder picked up his 100th career win.
Steubenville’s Landon Crosier (175) also won an individual title. Big Red placed eighth.
Nine OVAC Wrestlers
Capture Titles At Hoppel
LISBON — Nine OVAC individuals won their weight classes at the Hoppel Invitational Saturday at Beaver Local High School.
The host Beavers had four champions in Jordan Bates (106), Robert Buchheit (150), Jake Hughes (157) and Evan Ours (175).
Linsly, which placed fifth, had titlists in Brock Humphrey (120) and Malaki Washington (190).
Oak Glen, which was third as a team, had a champion in Wyatt Wolanski (144), while Brooke’s Landon Burdine (132) and East Liverpool’s Kyle Ingram (113) rounded out the winners.

ST. CLAIRSVILLE — The Maroon Knights withstood a three-point first quarter in rallying past the Tigers inside the ECO Center Saturday afternoon.
Eli Sancomb, fresh off a 45-point performance on Friday, dropped in 21 and Max Olejasz added 20 for Wheeling Central.
St. Clairsville 65, Northridge 58
Griffin Straub netted 21 points, Ollie Muhly added 12 and Nico Jacob 11 as the Red Devils prevailed.

SHADYSIDE — The Tigers received 17 points each from Jayden Johnson and Trenton Marling in slipping past the Shamrocks.
Aidan Caldwell led Barnesville with 10.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
John Marshall 57, Grafton 38
GRAFTON — Kalyn Reese stuffed the stat sheet with 17 points, seven steals and six rebounds as the Monarchs (4-2) defeated the hosts Bearcats.
W.Va. Wesleyan signee Rilee Storm led John Marshall with 19 points.
Magnolia 62, Madonna 30
NEW MARTINSVILLE — The Blue Eagles trounced the Blue Dons Saturday at home.
Kaylee Yost led Magnolia with 25 points. Nine Magnolia players scored Saturday.
Madonna’s Sophie Brady led the Blue Dons with eight.
Cameron 46, River View 34
BRADSHAW — The Dragons went on the road and outscored the Raiders by a dozen.
Kendra Thomas scored 16 to lead Cameron, reaching her total strictly via field goals.
Kaci Hatfield scored 13 to lead River View.
