John Marshall Defeats Bees, Ferry Boys Tops Jets
FAIRMONT — The John Marshall Monarchs girls basketball squad made a statement Friday, taking down East Fairmont, ranked No. 3 in W.Va. Class AAA, 56-41 on the road.
Rilee Storm scored 20 points, Kaylee White scored 13 and Kalyn Reese scored 11. White and Reese each had eight rebounds, and each made a pair of 3-pointers.
Ella Thompson led the bees with a dozen points.
The Monarchs jumped out to a 14-5 lead after the first quarter.
John Marshall next plays Wednesday at Steubenville.

CLARKSBURG — The Maroon Knights went to neutral ground and subdued the Minutemaids on Friday, boosted by a 28-point outburst from Seneca Heller.
Heller shot 14-18 from the foul line and knocked down a pair of 3-pointers.
Erin Maxwell scored 14 points and Bella Fitzsimmons scored 10.
Payten Goodwin led Lewis County with 14.
The game was played inside Robert C. Byrd High School.

ST. CLAIRSVILLE — The Cougars scored a win over the Dragons inside the ECO Center on Friday evening.
Cameron received 10 points from Emma Francis, all coming in the second half. Kendra Thomas scored eight.
Frontier was led by Kelsey Dye who scored 17.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Martins Ferry 60, Union Local 43
MARTINS FERRY — The Purple Riders (1-1) bounced back from a double overtime loss at St. Clairsville to defeat the visiting Jets inside Tolbert Gymnasium.
Anthony Booth scored 20 points, Maurice Barnett added 16 and Eli Smith finished with 13 for Martins Ferry.
Jacob Stroud led Union Local with 12. Bam Porter added 10.

EAST LIVERPOOL – Bryson Kamarec had 20 points and Austin Dulkoski 12 but the Huskies fell on the road to the Potters.

ST. CLAIRSVILLE — The Cougars’ defense was on-point Friday inside the ECO Center in a victory over the Dragons.
Colin Magers scored five points to lead Cameron.

WINTERSVILLE — Kaydence Walker netted 26 points and Gracie Klinesmith added 15 as the host Redskins rolled past the Huskies.

Linsly Continues Winning Ways
WHEELING – The Cadets swept a triangular meet with Martins Ferry and St. Clairsville at the Stifel Pool. They topped the Purple Riders 108-36 in boys’ action and 112-41 in girls’ action. They also took down the Red Devils 106-42 in boys’ action and 106-50 in girls’ action.
St. Clairsville also defeated Martins Ferry 45-44 in boys and 86-48 in girls
BOYS
Linsly’s Sebastien Jayakumar posted a pair of victories in the 200 IM (2:17.28) and 100 Breaststroke (1:08.31).
GIRLS
Linsly’s Cassandra Merinar won the 200 Freestyle (2:16.91) and the 500 Freestyle (6:13.58), while teammate Adriana Lopez-Alonso captured the 200 IM (2:28.39) and the 100 Breaststroke (1:12.57).
