Purple Riders win battle vs. Waterford; Union Local take road game vs. Bellaire
ST. CLAIRSVILLE — Martins Ferry outscored Waterford 26-13 in the second half Friday night for a 51-45 victory during the Buckeye 8 Girls Challenge inside the ECO Center.
The Wildcat (4-4) held a 32-25 advantage at the half, but the Purple Riders took a 39-38 lead after three panels. Martins Ferry held on with a 12-7 fourth quarter margin.
Giana Chirpas paced three Purple Riders in double digits with 19.
Maddie Lucas chipped in a dozen and Alivia Reese 10. Savannah Koller added eight.

WILLIAMSON — The Dragons fell on the road Friday to the Panthers, who concentrated all their scoring between just four players.
Scorers for Tug were Katie Hall with 16, Bailee Hall with 12, Haven Deskins with 11 and Katelynn Richardson with eight.
Leading Cameron was Emma Francis with eight points. Macey Bertram and Aubrey Thomas added six points apiece. Cameron trailed 6-5 after the first quarter and 18-14 at halftime before both teams’ offenses picked up in the second half.

Bellaire 50
BELLAIRE — Dylan Verbeck scored 18 points and the Jets took off in the second half in rolling past the Big Reds inside the ‘House of Champions.’
Union Local led 27-26 at the break but outscored Bellaire 41-24 in the second 16 minutes.
Brody Kerns added 16 points for the Jets, while Bam Porter had 14 and Brody Gregor a dozen.
Jace Violet led Bellaire with 21. Michael Dippel finished with 11.
Monroe Central 63,
Shenandoah 19
WOODSFIELD — Cooper Howell (17) and Corbin Farnsworth (12) combined to outscore the visiting Zeps.
Caedyn Silva added nine points for the Seminoles.
Nine different players scored for Monroe Central.
Cameron 57, Notre Dame 48
CAMERON — Danny Yoss led the Dragons with 16 points and Hunter Dobbs added 13 in their victory over the Irish.

BARNESVILLE — The host Shamrocks piled up 82 points Friday and trail Claymont by 10 heading into semifinal action Saturday inside the Greenhouse.
Eight Barnesville individuals advanced to the semis with freshman Knoxx Mankin upsetting the No. 1 seed at 157. Other semifinalists are Easton Stephen (106), Hoyt Hartshorn (113), Jaxon Aberegg (120), Bentley Stephen (126), Colt Carpenter (144), Hines Ford (190) and Christien Hannahs (215).
Barnesville’s Layden Loring (138) also advanced to the semifinals but is wrestling unattached.
Indian Creek has a pair of semifinalists in Ian Starkey (157) and Luke McMillion (285), while St. Clairsville and Harrison Central each have one in Carson Bishop (113) and Knox McKibben (215), respectively.
