OVAC Girls Basketball semifinal pairings and schedule are released
ST. CLAIRSVILLE — The OVAC Basketball Committee met Thursday morning and determined the final girls basketball standings and the upcoming semifinal contests, as well as the consolation round games.
The championship semifinals and first round of consolation tilts gets started on Monday, with the highest seeded team hosting semifinal games.
Only two of the defending champions are in the field. They are Cameron (Class 1A) and Indian Creek (Class 4A). The Dragons are seeking an unprecedented sixth straight title.
A new feature this year has a three-point shoot-off. The top two finishers in each class in the OVAC Statistics, compiled by the John Marshall Statistics Class, will square off at halftime of their respective class championship game, with the boys competing on Saturday, Feb. 7 and the girls on Saturday, Feb. 14.
Each competitor will get one minute to see how many shots they can make, with the maximum amount of tries set at 25.
