UL starts fast, rolls past Cambridge
CAMBRIDGE — Union Local ran out to a 17-0 lead after one quarter and coasted to a 57-10 victory over Cambridge Wednesday night in girls’ basketball action.
The Jets (15-1) were led by Alli Kellaway with 11 points. She was the only player from either team to reach double figures.
Ellie Greenwood and Delaney Butler had eight each, while the ‘Twin Towers’ of Ameera Saunders and Laken Vinskovich finished with six each.
Union Local meets 12-2 Indian Creek Saturday night at the ECO Center in the Buckeye 8 Championship game. The ball tips at 6.
BOYS BASKETBALL
University 47, Wheeling Park 40
MORGANTOWN — The Patriots suffered a close road defeat on Wednesday against the Hawks.
Both Josh Huffman and JD Williams scored 15 for Wheeling Park. Huffman drilled four 3-pointers in the game.
University had three in double figures, led by Eli Karpinski’s 13.
Wheeling Park trailed 29-20 at halftime.

Vinskovich shines
for West Liberty
WEST LIBERTY — West Liberty put together a strong second-half effort but was unable to overcome turnovers in a 100-89 loss to Glenville State on Wednesday evening at the ASRC.
After being sidelined with injuries for most of her career, Union Local graduate Reagan Vinskovich lived up to her billing Wednesday night.
Vinskovich delivered a breakout performance, finishing with a game-high and career-high 28 points and 11 rebounds in her first extended playing time after battling injuries her first two seasons.
Anna Lucarelli added 16 points, nine assists, and two blocks, while Jameka Brungard scored 18 points on 7-of-9 shooting and recorded three blocks. Olivia Baker chipped in 14 points, knocking down three 3-pointers and dishing out four assists.
West Liberty will return to Mountain East Conference action on Saturday, traveling to Concord for a road matchup with the Mountain Lions.
