Dragons, Bruins Defend Home Floors On Friday Night

CAMERON — A dominant first-half performance put the Cameron Dragons girls basketball squad on the fast-track to a victory at home Friday, leading 26-6 at halftime on their way to a 55-35 victory over the Madonna Blue Dons.

Cameron was led in scoring by their guard duo of Kendra Thomas and Macey Bertram, who each scored 12 points. Kenzie Scott scored 11 for the Dragons, all of her points coming in the first half.

Taylor Birkhimer and Rosa Cody each scored 10 points to lead Madonna.

Clay-Battelle 55, Valley 43

BLACKSVILLE — The CeeBees shot the lights out to capture a victory over Valley.

Clay-Battelle made 11 3-pointers Friday, led by six from Ali Hellyer, who scored a team-high 23.

Laken Dawson totaled a game-high 25 points to lead Valley. The senior made three 3’s of her own.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Brooke 57, Weir 40

WELLSBURG — The Bruins secured a dozen wins on their season with a victory Friday over their rival Red Riders.

Andrew Murdock led the way for Brooke with 19 points. The senior also grabbed six rebounds.

Pete Fodor scored 13 for the Bruins while Crosby Morris scored 12 with seven rebounds. Grant Yost grabbed a team-high nine rebounds.

Morgantown 62, Wheeling Park 30

MORGANTOWN — The Mohigans handled the Patriots on Friday at home.

JD Williams scored 11 to lead Wheeling Park and Kolten Whitmire scored 10.

Max Frey led Morgantown with 19.

Toronto 71, Bridgeport 53

TORONTO — The host Red Knights received 20 points from Colt Joynson and 19 from Austin Buchanan in earning a season sweep of the visiting Bulldogs inside George Kunzler Gymnasium.

Jaleel Vincent led Bridgeport with 22. Jaki Threet added 13.

Magnolia 59, Notre Dame 51

NEW MARTINSVILLE — Kingston Christen poured in 30 points to help his Blue Eagles defend their home floor against the Fighting Irish.

Christen made five 3-pointers and went a perfect 7-7 from the foul line. Magnolia led 31-26 at halftime.

Brady Byers scored nine for Magnolia.

D.D. Minnocci led Notre Dame with 17.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Morgan 67, St. Clairsville 41

McCONNELLSVILLE — The fifth-seeded host Raiders scored the first 11 points of the game and never looked back in eliminating the No. 11 Red Devils from Ohio Division IV, East 2 Sectional Tournament action.

Anna Kain nailed six three-point goals to finish with 20 points in leading St. Clairsville. Elizabeth Morgan added 16.

Parkersburg 60, Wheeling Park 25

PARKERSBURG — Italy Schroeder scored eight points while Layla Pettit and Adrian Moses added six each in the Patriots’ loss.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Ripley 76, John Marshall 52

RIPLEY — The host Vikings netted 30 points in the second quarter to blow the game wide open against the Monarchs.

Jackson Helms led John Marshall with 16 points. Preston Watkins added 10.
