Wheeling Central bags road win; Seminoles show up in fourth vs. Martins Ferry
CLARKSBURG — The Wheeling Central Maroon Knights girls basketball squad was anything but homesick on Thursday, picking up a dominant 75-24 victory on the road over Robert C. Byrd.
The Maroon were led by Seneca Heller, who launched six 3-pointers on her way to a game-high 28 points. Erin Maxwell scored 15 for Central, Bella Fitzsimmons scored 13 and Addie Payton scored 12.
Central led 43-11 at halftime.

WOODSFIELD — Mayzie Emery scored 24 points — 10 in the fourth quarter — as the Seminoles 17-4) bounced back from their loss in the OVAC WVU Medicine Class 3A championship game over the weekend by outscoring the visiting Purple Riders, 23-7, in the pivotal fourth quarter on Junior Winland Court.
Martins Ferry led 29-28 at the half and both teams scored 16 third-quarter points.
Jacey English added 10 points, six rebounds, seven assists and a trio of assists. Monroe Central had six girls score at least six points, with Brylee McFrederick having seven and eight rebounds.
Martins Ferry was led by Giana Chirpas with 19 points. Savannah Koller added 10 and Maddie Lucas eight. London Hodor also scored eight.

PINE GROVE — Laken Dawson put up 25 points to lead the Lumberjills to a narrow victory over the Wildcats.
Maddy Miller scored seven for Valley while Michaela Miller and Aubree Mason each scored six. Valley led 32-25 at halftime and trailed 41-42 after three quarters.

CAMERON — The Rebels took a home victory over the Dragons on Thursday.
Kendra Thomas and Macey Bertram each scored six for Cameron. Elsa Law led Ritchie with 21.

BARNESVILLE — Mallory Kiser scored 24 points as the Shamrocks outlasted the visiting Tigers in overtime. Aiva Leasure and Lydia Welch evenly divided 18.
Bellaire 47, Weir 35
WEIRTON — Aubree Hines netted 17 points and Kayla Edgar added 11 as the visiting Big Reds (12-10) handed the Red Riders a loss inside the Carl Hamill Fieldhouse.
Ryann Jeter scored 20 points for Weir. Cianna Siegel added 15.

INSTITUTE — The Panthers took down the Blue Eagles on Thursday as both teams competed in the final day of the 2026 Snyder of Berlin/UTZ Snacks Shootout at West Virginia State University.
Kingston Christen scored a game-high 19 points for Magnolia, while Noah Hood joined him in double figures with 13. Hood made four 3-pointers Thursday while Christen made three.
Seven players scored at least eight points for Tug Valley, led by Zade Bash’s 15.

WHEELING — Bodie Reader rolled a 199 game and 312 series and Aaron Henthorn added a 174 and 344. Respectively, as the Seminoles nipped the Cadets, 1,706 to 1,684.
Ian Sinkavich led Linsly with a 221 and 376, respectively, while Andrew Hoang added a 219 and 364.

WHEELING — Monroe Central squeaked out a 1,251 to 1,213 victory over Linsly as Shannon Shepherd rolled a 133 game and 237 series.
Baylie Hinebaugh had a 141 game for the Cadets. Lyric Garloch had a 234 series.

For D-II District
DOVER — Harrison Central qualified as a team in the Division II girls sectional tournament at Boulevard Lanes. The Huskies rolled a 2,769
Team members were Jaylie Byers (520), Sophie Bland (390), Mercedez Cooper (387) and Tayla Thompson (371).
Qualifying for district action individually were Barnesville freshman Trisha Johnson (468) and Union Local senior Danyella Erbach (459).
