High School Roundup: Tyler Baseball And Softball Both Pick Up Wins
ELLENBORO – The visiting Tyler Silver Knights (1-1) picked up their first win of the campaign, 8-2, over Ritchie County on Friday as Brayden Neff struck out 10 and walked one in a route-going performance on the mound. He also collected a single, double and drove in a run.
Freshman Grady Shortridge doubled, homered and plated a run. Senior Reese Davis added an RBI double and freshman Ashton Morris singled in a pair of tallies. Senior Landon Boggs had a run-scoring sacrifice fly.
Tyler Consolidated hosts Poca for a doubleheader Saturday at noon.
SOFTBALL
Tyler 2, Magnolia 1
SISTERSVILLE — The Knights bookended Friday’s game against the Blue Eagles with runs, scoring in the bottom of the first and walking off with a score in the bottom of the seventh.
Magnolia had plated one run in the top of the seventh, Sophia Alexander driving in the run to tie the game 1-1.
Magnolia had six hits Friday to Tyler’s four. Aerie Varner pitched the whole game for Magnolia, striking out 11.

Cameron 7, Magnolia 4
CAMERON – The host Dragons built a 7-0 lead before the Blue Eagles made things with four runs in the sixth and seventh innings.
Hunter Evans had a big game for Cameron as he pitched the first five innings, striking out six, walking two and scattering three hits. He also collected two singles and a home run, driving in three runs.
Kason Angel, Zayde Long and Skyler Cooey also drove in runs.
