Hilltoppers Home For Key MEC Series Against Glenville State And Concord

WEST LIBERTY – The West Liberty University baseball team returns home to Kovalick Field this weekend for a pair of Mountain East Conference matchups, hosting Glenville State on Saturday before welcoming Concord on Sunday.

The Hilltoppers enter the weekend at 6-11 overall and 5-3 in MEC play, sitting firmly in the middle of the North Division standings and looking to build momentum at home.

West Liberty has been productive at the plate, hitting .279 as a team with 153 hits and 115 runs scored through 18 games.

Hunter White has been one of the top hitters in the conference, batting .403 with four home runs and a 1.187 OPS, while consistently setting the tone in the middle of the lineup.

Evan Tice (.348, 14 RBI) and Aaron Flowers (.314, .485 OBP) have provided key run production, with Flowers also drawing a team-high 15 walks.

Additional depth comes from Luke Marsh (.309, 16 RBI) and Giacomo Dolce (.284), giving the Hilltoppers a balanced lineup capable of producing throughout the order.

While the offense has been steady, West Liberty will look for more consistency on the mound, entering the weekend with a 9.42 team ERA.

John Thompson has led the starting rotation with a 3-2 record and a 4.09 ERA, including a complete-game shutout earlier this season. The Hilltoppers have also seen solid contributions from Garrett Comer (2.25 ERA in limited action) and Wyatt McClintock out of the bullpen.

Limiting free passes and big innings will be a key emphasis this weekend, as West Liberty has allowed 163 runs through its first 18 contests.

Glenville State University enters the weekend at 13-10 overall and features a balanced offensive attack hitting .251 with 17 home runs.

Colby Guy leads the power surge with seven home runs, while Jetsel Cajigas-Martinez (.306, 12 stolen bases) adds speed and extra-base production.

The recent series history between the two programs has been competitive, with the teams splitting last year’s doubleheader in Glenville. West Liberty will look to capitalize on home-field advantage in Saturday’s matchup.

The Hilltoppers close the weekend against Concord University, a team that has traditionally posed challenges for West Liberty.

Concord enters at 8-16 overall but boasts one of the more dangerous lineups in the conference, hitting .287 as a team with 15 home runs. Korbin Bostic (.348, 5 HR, 26 RBI) headlines the offense, while Matthew DiSanti (.378) and Nick DiSanti (.377) provide consistent production at the top of the order.

West Liberty will be looking to reverse recent trends in the series, as Concord has claimed multiple wins in recent matchups.
