High School Roundup: Indian Creek, Jets Earn Close Victories
MINGO JUNCTION – Indian Creek tied the game in the bottom of the seventh with a run and then walked off visiting Wheeling Park, 5-4, with a run in the eighth Saturday in high school baseball action at the John Muth Recreational Center.
The Redskins (8-0) banged out 13 base hits, but left 11 runners stranded. Gavin Pownall led the hit parade with two singles, a double and drove in three runs. Luke McVicker and Garrin Clark each singled thrice. James Brothers and Ian Starkey added RBIs, with Brothers driving in Pownall with the game-winner.
Braylon Bartsch singled twice for the Patriots. Brody Groome and Rylan Moore had run-scoring singles.
Union Local 5, Monroe Central 3
MORRISTOWN – The Jets (6-4) continued their winning ways as Grayson Sink struck out 11, walked one and didn’t allow an earned run against the visiting Seminoles.
Union Local’s No. 8 and No. 9 hitters – Braden Kovac (2 singles, rbi) and Kam Gordon (double, triple, 2rbi) did most of the damage.
Preston Binegar singled and tripled for Monroe Central, while Kolton Merckle singled in a run.

SALTSBURG – The Cadets swept the hosts behind solid pitching as Kolson Ludolph and Rhyder Dlesk teamed on a one-hitter in the opener and Donavan Jones and Jaxon Murray combined on a four-hitter in the second game
In the opener, Ludolph fanned five and walked two in four innings. Dlesk struck out all three batters he faced.
Preston Hartley came up a home run shy of hitting for the cycle. He drove in one run. Murray drove in three with a single and double, while Tucker Doty knocked in three with a pair of singles. Brodi Prout singled twice and doubled to account for three runs. Gerardom Vargas Echavarria had a single, double and RBI.
In the second game, Murray banged a two-run triple and Dlesk singled in a run.
Jones fanned seven in five-plus innings. Murray recorded one K.
Shenandoah 6, Bridgeport 5
SARASHVILLE – The Zeps scored the game-winning run on a bases-loaded walk to slip past the Bulldogs.
Connor Nelson singled twice, doubled and knocked in two runs for Bridgeport. Xander Wilson and Carson Sauvageot had two singles each, with Wilson plating a run.
St. Clairsville 5, Harrison Central 4
ST. CLAIRSVILLE — The Huskies broke a 3-3 tie in the top of the seventh by scratching across a run, but the Red Devils scored two in the bottom of the inning to walk off a home victory.
Hudson Florence earned the win for St. Clairsville, pitching the whole game and striking out seven. Colten Rutter was saddled with the loss for Harrison Central. He struck out four.
Colten Florence, Hudson Florence and Caiden Bailey each hit RBI for St. C. Kolten Mizer and Tucker Snyder each hit RBI for the Huskies. Snyder doubled.
Grove City 4, Wheeling Central 3

GROVE CITY — The Maroons split a double header in Grove City on Saturday.
Brady Ernest, Kade Koroneos and Olen Ames picked up hits for Central against Grove City. Steven Brodegard pitched six innings and struck out seven.
Against Newark Catholic, Clay Petry drove in two, while Brayden Cover notched an RBI, as did Ames. Matt Criniti doubled and Jake Brown hit a triple.
Criniti and Koroneos combined on the mound for the Maroon. Koroneos pitched the first 4.2 innings and struck out four. Criniti earned the win in relief, pitching 2.1 innings and striking out a pair. He allowed no walks and no runs.

CAMERON – The Dragons swept the Indians on Saturday
In the first game, Zayde Long and Landon Francis played pivotal roles. Both hit home runs; Long finishing with three RBI and Francis with two. Long started the contest and pitched five innings, striking out eight. Francis pitched the final two frames and struck out two. Anthony Bellanco hit a double. He, Francis and Kason Angel each had multi-hit days.
Soier Reed shoved on the mound in the second game, pitching a complete game shutout with eight strikeouts and three hits allowed. He did not issue a walk. Francis doubled at the plate and Hunter Evans notched an RBI.
SOFTBALL
Wheeling Park 13, Jefferson 12
MORGANTOWN – The Patriots trailed 12-8 after five-and-a-half innings, but scored four times in the sixth and four more in the seventh to walk-off the Cougars at Mylan Park.
Mikaylah Alderman collected five singles and drove in three runs to spark Wheeling Park’s 20-hit attack. Harmony Bittner added four base raps that drove in two runs, while London Fankhouser singled thrice. Abby O’Donell singled and tripled. Alivia West singled twice and had an RBI.
Washington 9, Wheeling Park 7
The Ohio County Patriots scored four times in the top of the first but watched the Jefferson County Patriots tally nine of the final 12 markers.
Bittner and Fankhouser each singled and doubled, with Bittner picking up a pair of runs batted in. Brenna Tipton drove in a run with a pair of one-base hits, while Ava Harris singled twice.
Shadyside 20, Clay-Battelle 15

BLACKSVILLE – The visiting Tigers raised their record to 7-4 with a doubleheader sweep of the Cee-Bees.
In the opener, Shadyside scored 11 times in the top of the first and never looked back as Cam Kolvek doubled three times, drove in four runs and earned the win inside the circle in relief with eight strikeouts and no walks.
Kamryn Parker and Kaylie Warnock each drove in a pair of runs with a single and double, while Allie Weatherson singled two times to knock in two runs. Layla Samsa also singled in two runs.
In the nightcap, the Tigers received three singles, a double and three RBI from Parker, who also fanned four, walked two and scattered a pair of hits in six innings.
Kolvek, Warnock and Emma Gorrell all had two safeties, with Gorrell having a double.

ELM GROVE – The Cadets built an 8-0 lead before the Maroon Knights late-inning rally fell short on Ben’s Field at the J.B. Chambers I-470 Complex.
Madison Applegarth led Linsly with a single and double. Hailey Driscoll, Reagan VanSyooc and Kimber Kotson all singled twice. Macy Sustik added a double.
Maddie Miehle and Erin Maxwell had two singles each for Wheeling Central.

ELM GROVE – Seneca Heller singled and doubled for the Maroon Knights, while Chloe Groome singled twice.
Katie Jokovich-Palmer struck out eight and gave up three hits in earning the win inside the circle.
