High School Roundup: John Marshall Scorches Steubenville, Magnolia Walks Off Bulldogs
STEUBENVILLE — Kaylee White collected three hits in five at bats as John Marshall defeated Steubenville 13-5 on Tuesday on the softball field. White singled in the second inning, tripled in the sixth inning, and singled in the first inning.
The Monarchs won thanks in part to nine runs in the second inning. Emma King singled, scoring one run, White singled, scoring two runs, Masyn Inclan doubled, scoring two runs, Aubrey Lilley singled, scoring two runs, and Elaina Taylor singled, scoring two runs.
Inclan recorded her 150th career hit Tuesday.
Sadie Edwards hit a solo home run to left field in the bottom of the second for Big Red.
Lily Dijkstra earned the win for John Marshall. The righty gave up six hits and five runs (three earned) over seven innings, striking out five and walking three. Isabella Cadille took the loss for Steubenville. The starting pitcher went one and one-third innings, surrendering 10 runs on 10 hits, striking out one and walking three.
White and Inclan were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected three hits for John Marshall. Taylor, White, King, Lilley, and Inclan each drove in two runs for the Monarchs. Edwards and Emily Tuttle each collected two hits for Steubenville. Sagan Smarrella, Edwards, Tuttle, and Riley Zorne each drove in one run for Big Red.
Magnolia 5, Bridgeport 4
NEW MARTINSVILLE — The Blue Eagles scored two in the bottom of the seventh to walk-off the visiting Bulldogs.
Aubrey Suter collected three hits for Magnolia. Aerie Varner ended up with the win, striking out six in a complete game. She also tripled at the plate.
Addie Snodgrass had a two-hit day for Bridgeport.
Morgantown 6, Wheeling Park 5
MORGANTOWN — The Mohigans narrowly edged out the Patriots on Tuesday.
London Fankhouser took the loss for Park, surrendering seven hits while pitching the full six innings.
Alivia West had two hits, as did Kylah Cunningham. Cunningham doubled and drove in a pair.

Wheeling Central 11, Oak Glen 0
NEW CUMBERLAND — The Maroon Knights won in six innings Tuesday on the road vs. The Golden Bears.
Zayne Rosnick was the winnings pitcher, punching out 10 in four innings of work. Olen Ames, Koy Lipinski and Clay Petry all doubled for Central. Brady Ernest had two hits and two RBI. Petry finished with four RBI.
Morgantown 8, John Marshall 0
MORGANTOWN — The Monarchs fell on the road Tuesday.
Kayden Knapp was saddled with the loss, striking out two in three innings on the mound. Hayden Hughes, Cain Martin, Mason Markonich, Jayden Astipalitis, Kain Ankrom and Jacob Cisar all tallied hits for John Marshall.
