WOTC Kicks Off 2026 Season

WHEELING – Have you ever considered tennis for yourself or your child? With all the youth and adult programs offered by the Wheeling Oglebay Tennis Club, there is something for everyone.
The WOTC 2026 schedule has been set and is published on the club’s website, WOTennisClub.weebly.com. Information and registration links for all activities are available on the site. Participants will be asked to create a free United States Tennis Association account in order to use the Serve Tennis registration format.
An Elementary Play Day for ages 4-12 will be held on Saturday, April 25, at the Wheeling Park Indoor Facility. Youth are being organized into three age groups with appropriate times frames. Ages 4-6 will be on-court from 2 -3 p.m.; ages 7-8 will be from 3-4 p.m.; and ages 9-12 will be from 2-4 p.m. This free introduction to tennis offers lots of fun activities for any level of participant. Parents are encouraged to be on court with the children to see how tennis can be a family bonding opportunity.
Millie Mulhern Youth Tennis will be offered at the Wheeling Park Hilltop Courts on Mondays and Wednesdays in May/June. Ages 11-14 will attend on the following Mondays: May 4, 11, 18, and June 1. Youth ages 7-10 will participate on the following Wednesdays: May 6, 13, 20, and 27. MMYT is for any ability level. Both the Monday and Wednesday sessions will be from 4:30-6 p.m. A registration fee of $20 will be collected online, but anyone with financial need can apply for assistance to cover this charge by emailing the club at wheelingoglebaytennisclub@gmail.com.
In July, Summer Camp at Oglebay will be held. The youth camp will be every day during the week of July 6-10 at the Horne Family Racquet Center at Oglebay. Youth will be grouped by age and ability: ages 4-6 (9-10 a.m.), ages 7-9 (9-10:30 a.m.), and ages 10-12 and 13-18(10:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m.). This camp is for beginners through advanced youth. Safety procedures, techniques, and drills will be part of the instruction led by local pros. In addition, intermediate and advanced players will receive instruction in strategy and get to participate in matchplay. The online registration fee is $25, but this can be covered with sponsorships for those with financial need.
For adults (ages 18+), the WOTC offers a Wednesday evening camp on these dates: July 1, 8, 15, and 22. This is for individuals who are new to the game or have limited skills. It will be held at the Horne Family Racquet Center at Oglebay from 6-8 p.m. The online registration fee will be $25. This enables the participants to attend as many of the sessions as they are available. Camp will include instruction on technique, how to play the game, and scoring.
Two national level tournaments will be held at Oglebay’s Horne Family Racquet Center and Wheeling Park’s Hilltop Courts/Indoor Tennis Facility (if necessary).
The Jack Dorsey Senior Memorial will be June 17-21 with men aged 35-90 from across the country competing for national ranking in this USTA level 3 event. New this year, some women’s divisions have been added.
The WVU Medicine West Virginia Open will be held July 30-August 2. This tournament awards $5000 in prize money to participants in the open events: men’s and women’s singles and doubles and mixed doubles.
At the WVO, players with an NTRP (National Tennis Rating Program) will also compete at their appropriate ability levels for district and sectional recognition.
The WOTC invites any tennis enthusiast to become a member. Membership earns players discounts on specific court- time at Oglebay and Wheeling Parks, but more importantly, it helps the organization to offer its programs for minimal fees. The WOTC offers its tennis programs with support from memberships, grants, sponsorships, the Wheeling Park Commission, and the Oglebay Foundation.
The annual membership day will be Saturday, May 16. The day will include tennis games /round robin from 1-3 p.m.; a social with current and prospective members from 3-4 p.m.; and dinner with a brief meeting and door prizes from 4-6 p.m. The event will be held rain or shine.
