Linsly Names Goodwin Head Boys Basketball Coach
WHEELING – Linsly is pleased to announce that Kelvin “Bubby” Goodwin has been officially named head coach of the Linsly boys’ basketball program. Goodwin previously held the position of interim coach during the 2025 – 2026 season.
Goodwin, who stepped into the interim role in the fall of 2025, guided the Cadets through a transitional season with strong leadership, a personal touch, and a clear vision for the future of the program.
“We could not have been more pleased with the job Coach Goodwin did this past season,” said Athletic Director BJ Depew. “He was put in a challenging position as interim head coach midway through the fall season. He not only kept the team and program on the right track, but he developed a chemistry and a mutual respect among all involved that led to tremendous growth for each player and coach in it. We are excited for Coach Goodwin to continue as our head boys’ basketball coach for many years to come.”
Goodwin brings strong continuity and familiarity with the program after having served as an assistant coach at Linsly for six seasons prior to being named interim head coach. During that time, he and the previous coaching staff led the Cadets to compete against top regional opponents while building a culture of player development and opportunity.
Under Goodwin’s leadership this past season, the program emphasized growth across all levels, building a strong foundation for sustained success. His assistant coaches, Camden White and Braden Price, will return, ensuring stability and continued development within both the varsity and junior varsity programs.
A standout player in his own right, Goodwin is a Wheeling Park High School Hall of Famer, where he scored 1,555 career points, earned three First Team All-State selections, and helped lead his team to three consecutive state tournament appearances. In college, Goodwin played at West Liberty University, Slippery Rock University and Point Park University.
“I’m thankful to officially become the men’s basketball coach for Linsly,” said Goodwin. “This is where I wanted to be, and I appreciate Linsly giving me the opportunity to take on this role.” Goodwin explained that the team started this past season with a lot of opportunity, but continued to work hard, get better, and finish the year strong.
“I’m looking forward to keeping that momentum going into next season. I thought it was a great foundational year to build upon, and our future looks bright.”
