Morgantown, Linsly Win Boys Tennis Titles

WHEELING – Morgantown and Linsly captured OVAC Boys Tennis Championships Thursday at Wheeling Park’s Indoor Tennis Center. The Mohigans won the Class 5A title 21-20 over city rival University, while the Cadets put up 18 points to better second-place Wheeling Central’s five.
Individually, a pair of local netters won titles as Linsly’s top-seeded Leonardo Caito prevailed at No. 1 Singles with an 8-4 nod over No. 2 Kalman Nagy of University. Caito defeated John Marshall’s Cooper Berlin in the semifinals, 8-1, and started his day with an 8-0 decision over Wheeling Central’s Levi Anderson.
John Marshall’s Wyatt Jefferson, also the No. 1 seed, took the title at No. 3 with an 8-4 decision over third-seeded Max Warner of Morgantown. Jefferson defeated No. 4 Augustin Fonseca 8-2 in the semifinals and Greyson Stoner, 8-0, of Cambridge in the quarterfinals.
University’s top-seeded Alexander Nagy won No. 2 with an 8-1 decision over No. 2 Max Chen of Morgantown. The Mohigans’ second-seeded Ronan Rogers upset the Hawks No. 1 Trace McLaren, 8-4, to win No. 4.
