NEW PHILADELPHIA - Martins Ferry sophomore-to-be Ford Hughes tossed a complete game three-hitter Wednesday night as St. Clairsville Post 159 blanked New Philadelphia, 10-0, in five innings in American Legion baseball action.
Hughes struck out four, walked one and yielded a trio of harmless singles in his route-going performance. He threw 66 pitches, with 42 being strikes.
Roby Hanna led the St. Clairsville offensive attack with three runs batted in. He missed hitting for the cycle by a home run. Colten Florence added a two-run single, while Matheson King had a double. Caiden Bailey, Dylan Blon and Landon Stack all had run-producing base hits. Jaxon Starks also picked up an RBI.
